Senior Managing Consultant | Full-Time | Remote (MI and MN Preferred)

The Senior Managing Consultant is a leader within the consulting organization, responsible for guiding the delivery of multiple client projects, developing consulting talent, and contributing to the growth and financial success of the practice. Acting as both a player/coach and escalation point, this role balances hands-on consulting with leadership responsibilities. Senior Managing Consultants are accountable for ensuring project quality, client satisfaction, revenue growth, and the professional development of consultants, while shaping best practices and methodologies that advance Vervint's delivery excellence.

What You'll Accomplish:


Leadership & Talent Development


  • Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA) teams of consultants and managing consultants across multiple engagements.
  • Build and sustain a premier consulting team, providing structured mentorship, coaching, and career pathing to develop future consulting leaders.
  • Act as a player/coach, contributing subject matter expertise while enabling others to grow their delivery and leadership skills.
  • Shape and champion practice methodologies, tools, and standards to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Design and facilitate internal training programs, workshops, and certifications to enhance consultant capabilities.


Business Growth & Practice Development


  • Build and sustain trusted client-facing relationships at the senior executive level, serving as a strategic advisor.
  • Actively contribute to business development pursuits by supporting proposals, presenting to executives, and positioning consulting offerings.
  • Achieve portfolio financial targets by delivering client success and proactively influencing follow-on and new sales opportunities through trusted relationships and solution insights.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize delivery processes, enhance methodologies, and streamline operations.
  • Partner with sales and account teams to provide sales assistance, including lead generation, opportunity qualification, solutioning, and project scoping.
  • Develop and share knowledge assets, playbooks, and intellectual property that scale the practice's expertise and value proposition.
  • Influence practice direction by collaborating with the leadership team on workforce planning, solution offerings, and strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute specialized expertise in emerging technologies, industry best practices, or delivery models that enhance the firm's market position.
  • Represent the practice in cross-functional leadership forums, ensuring alignment of people, process, and strategy across the organization.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and client-centric delivery throughout the practice.


Client Delivery & Engagement Leadership


  • Hit or exceed billable utilization targets individually, for your team, and contribute to practice-wide utilization goals.
  • Provide executive-level oversight across engagements, anticipating risks and ensuring proactive mitigation.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex delivery, technical, or strategic issues.
  • Collaborate with account teams to align delivery outcomes with client business goals and uncover future opportunities.
  • Lead the delivery of multiple end-to-end projects, ensuring outcomes that meet or exceed client expectations for quality, timeliness, and business impact.


What You'll Bring:


  • Strong leadership background, demonstrated by progressively increased responsibility.
  • Proven success leading multiple engagements and managing consultants concurrently, with accountability for delivery quality and client outcomes.
  • Demonstrated consulting expertise across complex, high-impact projects in technology, digital transformation, or equivalent domains.
  • Significant experience in building and maintaining trusted client relationships at the executive level.
  • Strong record of managing engagement-level financials (revenue, utilization, margin) and contributing to practice financial targets.
  • Strong business development support skills, including solutioning, scoping, and executive presentations.
  • Exceptional leadership presence, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage delivery risk, budgets, and utilization targets, ensuring successful outcomes for both clients and the practice.
  • Experience developing thought leadership or intellectual property for a consulting practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow consulting talent, including future leaders.


Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business, project management or related field or combination of education and experience.
  • Experience implementing or leading ERP implementations, upgrades, and enablement projects in Manufacturing, Distribution, Construction, and/or Healthcare.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Infor LN, Infor CSI, NetSuite, SAP, M1, etc.
  • At least 12 years of relevant work experience in professional services, solution delivery, or technical consulting.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a Managing Consultant or equivalent leadership role.
