The Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics (CB2) has played a pivotal role in supporting the university's clinical research mission by offering cutting-edge informatics and biostatistics resources. From its inception, the center has prioritized the development and application of innovative tools for clinical data management, biospecimen handling, and statistical consultation. The Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics is seeking a Computing Sciences Researcher II to join the Electronic Data Capture Team. The incumbent will need to be able to collaborate with researchers in designing electronic data capture instruments for studies using REDCap software application. They will be responsible for generating data for reports so investigators can analyze data and publish results. They will develop, facilitate, implement, evaluate, perform, administer, and oversee a wide variety of research programs or initiative data using the REDCap application. They will provide consultations to develop reports and visual representations for research studies.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate effectively with Principal Investigators to contribute to the design of research studies and experiments utilizing REDCap to create electronic data capture instruments.
  • Provide assistance to researchers by participating in research design and determining best methods of collection of biomedical data using appropriate methodology to successfully address research questions.
  • Provide support to REDCap users in troubleshooting project roadblocks
  • Assist in defining comprehensive research objectives and activities including applying analytical techniques to help predict outcomes, creating models and identifying trends.
  • Conduct thorough checks of data sources.
  • Ensure accuracy of source data by running validity tests and responsible for ensuring data collection meets privacy requirements when Personal Health Information (PHI) is being collected.
  • Interpret complex data patterns and trends and provide guidance on best methods of extracting REDCap data related to study design and analysis of complex data and trends.
  • Generate complex reports, interpret complex data and present data through collaboration with team members to generate visual representations via PowerPI.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive research data.
  • Familiarity with clinical research workflows and terminology.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance concepts such as HIPAA.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications Experience using REDCap electronic data capture software with basic understanding of functionality, including:

  • Project setup and lifecycle
  • Longitudinal and repeating instruments/events
  • Data entry forms vs. surveys
  • User rights and role-based access
