Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Water and Wastewater Infrastructure team in Washington. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who wants to provide technical leadership across water and wastewater projects, including process systems, lift and pump stations, collection and distribution systems, and treatment facilities. The Senior Engineer will be a key technical resource, collaborating with project teams, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the highest quality technical solutions.


Key Responsibilities




  • Serve as a senior technical resource on water and wastewater projects, including process, collection, conveyance, pump stations, and treatment facilities.



  • Lead complex design and technical problem-solving efforts, applying engineering expertise to develop practical, code-compliant, and efficient solutions.



  • Provide QA/QC and technical review of designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications prepared by staff engineers and project engineers.



  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are constructable, cost-effective, and aligned with client and regulatory requirements.



  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, supporting professional growth and development.



  • Support client and regulatory communications by providing technical expertise and contributing to presentations and technical discussions.



  • Stay current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, and integrate into project solutions.




Qualifications




  • 10+ years of relevant water/wastewater engineering experience



  • BS or MS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering degree



  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required in Washington or ability to obtain within 6 months



  • Broad experience across water and wastewater systems, including process, pump stations, lift stations, pipelines, and treatment facilities



  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical judgment skills



  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in teams



  • Willingness to travel within Washington for project sites, client meetings, and coordination with other Kennedy Jenks offices




Kennedy Jenks supports a healthy work-life balance and utilizes a hybrid model of home and office work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. This approach empowers our people to thrive, collaborate, and achieve their full potential.


Salary range for this position is expected to be between $160,000 and $210,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.


This position is eligible for performance and incentive compensation.
