Job Summary

The Student Services Analyst in the American Indian Program plays a key role in advancing student success by providing culturally responsive support to Native American students. This position delivers academic, administrative, and personal assistance, ensuring access to resources that support achievement, engagement, and retention. Serving as a primary point of contact, the Analyst provides case management-informed advising, cohort tracking, and resource navigation to promote enrollment, persistence, and completion. The Analyst also supports the coordination, assessment, and continuous improvement of program initiatives through data-informed practices, compliance awareness, and cross-functional collaboration. The role works closely with faculty, staff, tribal communities, and campus departments to implement student success initiatives while honoring Native identities and cultures. Strong communication, cultural competency, and commitment to educational equity are essential.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
This classification may be assigned to lead other regular staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives general supervision on routine items which are performed according to established standards and procedures and receives specific work instruction regarding non-routine matters and deadlines.

Essential Functions

35% - Student Support & Case Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for students on admissions, enrollment, registration, financial aid, scholarships, internships, testing, orientation, and graduation. Assess student needs, provide referrals, and manage active caseloads and student cohorts. Develop and monitor individualized success plans including academic, career, and personal goals. Provide holistic advising and guidance on course planning, academic progress, and career goals. Connect students to tutoring, career services, financial resources, and other supports. Maintain a safe, inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and community members. Demonstrate proficiency in technology platforms supporting the student lifecycle. Develop, document, and administer scholarship processes and awards, ensuring fair and transparent selection and compliance with donor criteria.

30%- Program Coordination, Planning & Administration: Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate program operations and activities. Manage outreach, recruitment, retention, and persistence initiatives. Research trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance programs. Develop and deliver program materials, presentations, reports, and outreach content. Ensure program compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Provide compliance, financial, and administrative support, including monitoring budgets, grant funding, payments, and recordkeeping. Monitor grant funding, expenditures, and program regulations.

20% - Data Collection, Reporting & Professional Development: Assist with the development of short-term operational plans for the American Indian Program that align with the College's Strategic and Enrollment Management goals, enhancing access to campus student support services for students, including mental health services, tutoring, and basic needs resources. Collect, analyze, and maintain student and program data to inform decisions and evaluate effectiveness. Conduct assessment and surveys of programmatic and operations of the department, prepare reports, dashboards, correspondence, and program documentation. Assist in developing and delivering training and professional development on recruitment, retention, and advising. Interpret organizational policies and practices regarding students conduct, grievances, and dispute resolution.

15% - Leadership & Supervision: Plan, supervise, hire, onboard, develop and evaluate the American Indian Program office staff which includes exempt, non-exempt, federal college work study, interns, and part-time staff. Participate in hiring, discipline, and termination activities when assigned. Other Duties as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Desired Qualifications

A. Master's degree in education, educational leadership, humanities, social sciences, American Indian Studies, or any related field

B. Two or more years of demonstrated experience establishing collaborations and partnerships with educational institutions, governmental agencies, tribal nations or tribal serving organizations.

C. Two or more years of demonstrated experience supporting American Indian populations.

D. Demonstrated experience coordinating, administering, or evaluating support programs or initiatives.

E. Two or more years of demonstrated experience providing holistic, case-management student support, including managing caseloads and/or cohorts and supporting student enrollment, persistence, and completion.

F. Demonstrated experienced monitoring grant funding opportunities and administration, program expenditures and program regulations.

G. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years.

Special Working Conditions
  • Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
  • May be required to travel to other MCCCD locations.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department, and college.
