Accounting Systems Lead

This engagement will provide subject matter expertise to support and enhance the Fixed Asset Accounting group's technology ecosystem, with a primary focus on PowerPlan and its integrations with upstream source systems including Workday (ERP), Maximo (Work Management), and Oracle Field Service (OFS). The consultant will ensure system integrations, interface logic, and accounting outputs are accurate, compliant, and aligned with utility fixed asset accounting requirements.

Key Objectives:
  • Ensure accurate capitalization, accounting, and reporting of utility fixed assets across integrated systems

  • Lead and support PowerPlan system enhancements, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance

  • Act as the primary business liaison between Fixed Asset Accounting, Operations, IT, and external technology partners

  • Drive process efficiency, automation, and best practices within plant accounting

Scope of Responsibilities

System Integration & Support:

  • Serve as lead SME for PowerPlan implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and error resolution

  • Maintain and validate integrations between PowerPlan and Workday, Maximo, and OFS

  • Diagnose and resolve interface logic, data flow, and accounting discrepancies in partnership with IT and system administrators

  • Monitor upstream system changes and assess impacts to PowerPlan prior to go-live

Testing & Implementation:

  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including creation and execution of test scripts and use cases

  • Manage testing cycles for system upgrades, enhancements, and new integrations

  • Participate in cutover, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization

Business Partnership & Requirements:

  • Translate fixed asset accounting and plant accounting business requirements into clear technical specifications

  • Act as the primary advocate for Plant Accounting stakeholders during system initiatives

  • Collaborate with IT, IT Project Management, Operations, Internal Audit, and external vendors

Process Improvement & Documentation:

  • Develop and maintain desktop procedures, policies, and best-practice documentation

  • Identify opportunities for automation, process efficiencies, and enhanced reporting

  • Support training and knowledge transfer for Plant Accounting staff

Leadership & Oversight:

  • Provide day-to-day direction and guidance to team members supporting fixed asset systems

  • Champion continuous improvement, change management, and special projects

  • Serve as first-line support and key SME for fixed asset accounting technology

Deliverables:
  • Validated and stable PowerPlan integrations with upstream systems

  • UAT test scripts, results, and issue resolution documentation

  • Updated policies, procedures, and desktop documentation

  • Process improvement and automation recommendations

  • Ongoing system support and stakeholder communication

Required Expertise:
  • Strong fixed asset accounting knowledge within a regulated utility environment

  • Extensive experience with system implementations, upgrades, and integrations

  • Advanced Excel (including Macros/VBA) and strong data analytics skills

  • Experience with SQL and Microsoft BI dashboards

  • Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on execution levels

  • PowerPlan (Fixed Asset Accounting)

  • Maximo (Work Management)

  • Workday (ERP)
