Purpose of the Role

The Senior Material Controller plays a critical role in enabling Worley to deliver sustainable change by ensuring the accurate planning, control, and availability of materials required to execute complex energy, chemicals, and resources projects. This role supports Worley's ambition to be a global leader in sustainability solutions by providing disciplined, data-driven materials management that underpins safe, efficient, and reliable project delivery across the full asset life cycle. Working closely with engineering, construction, and supply chain teams, the role contributes directly to maintaining asset viability, optimizing resources, and supporting responsible project outcomes for Worley and its customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to determine material requirements with a high level of accuracy and alignment to project objectives.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive material documentation, including specifications, codes, approved suppliers, and procurement data, to support effective ordering and traceability.

  • Coordinate the receipt, inspection, storage, preservation, and distribution of materials and equipment to support construction and installation activities on site.

  • Maintain and operate materials control systems to ensure real-time visibility of inventory status, movements, and availability in support of project schedules.

  • Adjust material requirements based on existing inventory, standardized material practices, and project execution strategies to optimize cost, efficiency, and sustainability outcomes.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls teams to resolve material-related issues and support integrated, data-centric project delivery.

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to materials personnel, contributing to consistent application of systems, processes, and best practices across the site or project.

  • Participate in cross-functional coordination to ensure materials management activities align with Worley policies, safety standards, and sustainability commitments.

  • Prepare and communicate clear reports, analyses, and recommendations to stakeholders and project leadership on material status, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance materials control processes, systems, and tools in line with Worley's evolving solutions-provider model.


Qualifications / Skill Set
  • Degree qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience demonstrating advanced expertise in materials management within engineering, construction, or industrial project environments.

  • Extensive experience in materials control roles supporting large, complex projects in the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors, with exposure to full project life cycle execution.

  • Strong ability to interpret and apply engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and material take-offs, in collaboration with technical teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of materials control systems, processes, and tools, with the capability to troubleshoot issues and support others in their effective use.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to guide teams, assign work, and provide technical direction as a trusted senior advisor.

  • Proven communication skills with the ability to inform, influence, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders through reports, presentations, and day-to-day engagement.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a disciplined approach to accuracy, documentation, and risk awareness.

  • Alignment with Worley's purpose of delivering a more sustainable world, including a commitment to responsible resource use, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy while remaining aligned with project objectives, organizational priorities, and Worley governance requirements.
