Senior Accountant

Summary:

The Senior Accountant I works in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment on the accounting team. This individual provides oversight and direction for accounting transactions to ensure accurate and reliable financial information, adherence to SOX controls and compliance with GAAP. The Senior Accountant I is expected to complete complex accounting responsibilities, as well as assist with training and reviewing the work of the team members.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for complex account reconciliations, schedules, and entries.

  • Provide support, guidance, mentorship, and training as needed to the team members.

  • Assist management with the hiring and interviewing process for Staff Accountants.

  • Review clinics, corporate, and total facility financials; analyze outliers and variances; reclassify as necessary and record accruals as necessary.

  • Review and reconcile property and real estate taxes and record necessary entries.

  • Responsible for coding and recording bank activity and bank reconciliations for complex, corporate accounts.

  • Reconcile, record, and track all rebates.

  • Reconcile AP aging and record necessary entries.

  • Calculate and record puts exercised and purchase and sales of company interests.

  • Calculate and record insurance allocation.

  • Calculate and record A/R allocation.

  • Analyze change month-over-month in contribution/distribution accounts.

  • Reconcile and track NxStage or other similar machines.

  • Review fixed asset and intangible asset rolls.

  • Review clinic opening entries; CIP, PM fee, construction accruals.

  • Review salary rankings, CPT, and DOH reports.

  • Review quarterly Facility Technical Manager and Clinic Manager Goals.

  • Responsible for calculating, recording, and reconciling management fee and bad debt.

  • Reconcile and update monthly IBNR waterfall for medical and dental self-insurance.

  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and work with the team members to resolve variances.

  • Ensure balance sheet is balanced and work with the team members to resolve issues.

  • Responsible for company consolidation process.

  • Calculate and record minority interest and tax accrual.

  • Maintain financial distribution listing.

  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching, interpreting data, and performing analysis as requested by management and physician partners.

  • Assist management with implementation of new initiatives, training and accounting software as needed.

  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required. Advanced degree a plus.

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting/finance background.

  • Strong understanding of debits and credits.

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Workday accounting software preferred.

  • Experience with financial reporting, such as balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
