Overview
Quality Technician II Conducts quality inspections, testing, and analysis to ensure that products meet specified standards and customer requirements. Develops and maintains production processes, performs quality checks, and creates documentation to support quality assurance efforts.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities
Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine if it is fit for conformance or customer requirements. This can include dimensional, attribute, performance, mechanical or chemical characteristics.
- Performs dimensional layouts as required.
- Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
- Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required. Works with production teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- Calibrates tools and gauges as required.
- Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
- Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance (i.e. various coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gages (calipers, micrometers, protractors, etc.)
- Leads activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed. Leads containment and/or sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.
- Leads audits as requested by quality department. This includes various ISO audits and product audits at various stages of the manufacturing process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Skills Requirements
- Sound knowledge of CMM Technology and CAD
- Sound knowledge of metal production and manufacturing, including cutting, forming, welding, and destruction testing.
- Proficiency with quality inspection tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to the degree necessary.
- Ability to determine product status based on test and inspection results.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints as applicable to the manufacturing of metals.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college, university, or technical school preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Three years of experience in manufacturing or engineering.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Some physical demand; occasionally lifts light to medium-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 25 lbs/1-11 kgs) material.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
- May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
