Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has an opportunity for an experienced Environmental Planner position available to work on diverse projects with multiple departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Uses the planning process to assist in the development of long-range improvement plans
  • Leads in the preparation of demand forecasts and understands how forecasts are used
  • Instructs support staff to assist in data collection
  • Instructs technicians to assist in the development of working drawings and exhibits
  • Familiar with industry standards and regulatory guidance for planning and design
  • Conducts planning research to determine long-range improvement needs
  • Prepares reports and plans for planning projects
  • Develops materials for client and other public planning meetings
  • Visits project site to gather data
  • Attends project coordination meetings - days or nights; may present elements of study results
  • Responsible for job specific quality system tasks as defined in quality manual
  • Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects
  • Other duties as assigned

A valid driver's license is required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning (or related field) from an accredited college or university

--AND-

  • A minimum of four (4) years related working experience (or equivalent).
  • AICP preparation underway

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

  • Be knowledgeable and have practical experience in preparing and managing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents for transportation projects; roadways, bridges, bicycle, pedestrian, trails, transit or aviation
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with state DOTs, MPOs, transit authorities, or state (DNR) and federal (FHWA, FTA, FRA, FAA) agencies
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and public involvement programs
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills

Salary Range: $76,000 to $96,000 annually - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set, or location.
