GOVERNMENT RELATIONS PROGRAM MANAGER

What you'll do.

As the Government Relations Program Manager, you will play a vital and dynamic role in driving the AAN's advocacy program forward from our Washington, DC office. In this position, you will be at the forefront of shaping impactful health policy by collaborating with a talented team to monitor, analyze, and respond to key state and federal legislative proposals. You'll energize our grassroots advocacy efforts, spearhead innovative initiatives, and keep your finger on the pulse of engagement trends-ensuring our policy voice remains strong and effective in the halls of government.

What we look for.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience studying or working on health care policy is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the AAN's values is required.
  • Demonstrated advanced oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office, specifically in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Anticipates needed actions; plans and follows through with work activities; dependable and focused on getting things done to achieve goals is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships is required.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to internal and external customers in person, on the phone and through written and electronic correspondence is required.
  • Experience working on Capitol Hill or with state or federal legislation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Quorum or similar government relations software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal or state policy, advocacy, grassroots and/or political affairs is preferred.

Relevant education and/or experience exceeding the required qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required - up to 5%.

Location: Washington, DC and is identified as hybrid (required to work in the office with the ability to work remotely part of the week).

Schedule: Some evening and weekends required.
