Requisition Number: 103356 Traveling Network Engineer Traveling Network Engineer supports enterprise network modernization and refresh initiatives, focusing on handson implementation and onsite deployments across LAN/WAN, data center, and wireless environments. This role works under senior technical leadership to deliver highquality, scalable network solutions.
- Location: Must reside in the western U.S.
- Travel: 60% travel within the western United States
- Compensation: Up to $120,000 annually plus benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Execute network refresh and multisite deployment projects, including hardware replacement and onsite implementation
- Configure, stage, test, and deploy network hardware (routers, switches, analog voice gateways, UPS)
- Perform network closet audits, document cabling and hardware, and identify remediation needs
- Conduct wireless surveys and develop wireless designs using Ekahau or Hamina (accurate wall and object modeling required)
- Support endpoint testing, update asbuilt documentation, and provide postdeployment (Day2) support
- Participate in architecture/design reviews, feasibility studies, and creation of diagrams, lowlevel designs, and templates
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and network health assessments
- Implement and support network security solutions (firewalls, VPNs, compliance controls)
- Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, and logistics teams to ensure successful delivery
- Produce and maintain detailed project and operational documentation
Required Qualifications
- 3-4 years of handson network engineering experience, preferably with multisite or refresh projects
- CCNA required
- Preferred certifications: CCNP, CompTIA Network+, CWNA/CWDP/CWAP, ECSE, or vendor certifications (Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and enterprise networking standards
- Experience with Catalyst Center is a plus, must at least have an understanding
- Advanced understanding of WiFi standards, wireless design, AP models, and manufacturer capabilities
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask, follow established processes, and adapt in fastpaced environments
Work Environment
- Hybrid role requiring frequent onsite travel and deployments
- Ability to work extended hours during project milestones
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and at a computer for extended periods
