Job Description:

The Senior BI Developer I Contractor (Senior Associate) will provide critical analytical support and solution development for the broader Enterprise using market leading BI tools and methodologies. In this role, you will harness your expertise in dimensional modeling and advanced Microsoft Power BI development to create and deliver robust BI solutions and data products, catering to the needs of our internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate must have deep expertise in Microsoft Power BI, data modeling and analytics, and will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. Success in this role requires a strong interest in analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement advanced, scalable, and highly performant Power BI data models, reports, and dashboards
  • Collaborate with other developers, senior leadership, and business SMEs to discover BI solution requirements, while performing data discovery and independently executing complex data analysis across multiple platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL, Fabric, Power BI, and Excel)
  • Integrate data from various sources, including SQL databases, Excel, cloud services, and other BI tools. Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accuracy
  • Quickly develop proof of concept data models and preliminary reports from organizational and third-party data sources
  • Support and enhance existing BI solutions and convert / migrate legacy solutions. Update existing BI framework models to support changing requirements or enhancements. Augment models with business terms and definitions
  • Demonstrate platform capabilities and promote application of tools as appropriate to address business requirements. Collaborate with peers on emerging BI technology
  • Understand and apply intermediate to advance Azure DevOps methodologies to drive an exemplary customer experience; apply elementary project management techniques to ensure communicable progress
  • Effectively communicate across the organization in a manner easily understood by individuals with diverse technical and business backgrounds

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including custom visuals, Power Query, DAX, and M language
  • Substantial experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and SQL, as well as advanced understanding of dimensional modelling
  • Proficient in integrating data from various sources, including cloud-based platforms
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with machine learning and advanced analytics
  • Expert skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory)
  • Intermediate knowledge of databases (on-prem or cloud), querying data using SQL, Python, or other comparable languages
  • Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Cognos Analytics)
  • Experience with SSAS Tabular, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit, and/or Tabular Editor (2 or 3)
  • A good understanding of the agile development cycle and familiarity with Smartsheet or Azure DevOps preferred
  • As required, work after-hours and during maintenance periods
  • Limited travel required to perform job duties (< 5%)
