Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager supports the Controller in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate, timely financial information while helping maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The Accounting Manager supports month-end and year-end close processes, assists with audits, and helps improve accounting processes and systems. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced environment.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Controller in managing daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Help maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in coordinating with external accounting firms, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist with audit requests and documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Review account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Support system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Five or more years of experience in the accounting field. Construction accounting experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a solid foundation in general computer skills and basic software applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach.
Supervises:
Future finance team members as the department grows.
