Sr. Director of Fleet and Logistics

This position is not hybrid/remote and will report to our Cleveland OH Headquarters.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Lead all aspects of the transportation and fleet services provided to our store and employee base in the United States, Canada, LATAM, and other regions as required.
  • Direct all aspects of asset management associated with transportation services for stores, including trucks, Telematics devices, software, handheld mobile communication devices, and any other ancillary equipment required for customer and store deliveries.
  • Control all spend associated with the fleet in the US, Canada, and LATAM and the delivery service in the US and Canada.
  • Direct all activities associated with commerce via transportation services such as e-commerce, and continuously identify opportunities to improve the delivery experience for our stores, drivers, and customers while also creating opportunities for efficiency improvements directly or indirectly related to transportation in the stores, at customer delivery sites, and on the trucks.
  • Control the daily management practices and effectiveness of the support services associated with transportation for The America's Group, such as the dispatch team.
  • Guide decisions for internal partners on how supporting systems such as POS, Kronos, and GEMS can best support the needs of transportation services in providing safe, efficient, and prompt deliveries for our stores and customers.
  • Constantly monitor effectiveness of transportation and fleet services by interacting with executive teams, field leadership, store management, drivers, and customers in order to facilitate rapid responses to new and changing operational situations in transportation and fleet, and to ensure that planned changes will have the desired impact and are accepted by the field and customers.
  • Lead team that acts as a Sherwin-William Center of Excellence by Developing and negotiating international fleet contracts with equipment manufacturers and fleet management companies, and other ancillary service providers as needed
  • Represent the Sherwin-Williams Company on various advisory boards and trade associations
  • Direct teams to ensure consistent management and administration processes across groups, divisions, and countries to ensure cost effectiveness, process efficiencies, and that fleet policies are being adhered to and updated when necessary
  • Interface with Leadership and Communicate with direct reports and vendors to ensure the highest level of safety and service to our employee drivers.
  • Create advisory information for leadership to ensure policies are in alignment with the business environment and future strategies.
  • Lead team that determines the best vehicles and equipment for use by our employees by ensuring the most appropriate balance between cost and features.
  • Provide innovative metrics to ensure performance is in alignment with goals and strategy.
  • Responsible for leading fleet efforts to create useful reporting to leadership on fleet initiatives and progress globally
  • Control all aspects of the spending associated with the Delivery Service and Fleet and the teams that support it
  • Lead major operational improvement projects and implement necessary changes while maintaining effectiveness of all other aspects of transportation and fleet services
  • Identify and evaluate solutions to optimize asset utilization while enhancing customer responsiveness across the entire supply chain
  • Utilize operational tools such as Six-Sigma and Lean to define opportunities establish metrics, and measure progress of key projects
  • Collaborate and facilitate interaction with peer Divisions to ensure that consistent improvement programs and initiatives are introduced as often as possible across SHW, and that best practices are being communicated
  • Lead the integration of operational transportation and fleet systems and procedures with acquired companies. Other transportation and fleet services responsibilities as required by the business
  • Direct the management team of couriers which manages relationships with approximately 165 couriers

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field

Preferred:

  • MBA

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 10 years of applicable experience in stores, transportation, customer support

Preferred:

  • Six-Sigma Certification as a Green/Black Belt
  • Lean Operations and Transactional Lean training
  • Large system implementation experience

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Extensive Microsoft Office Suite Capabilities
  • Extensive Data Analysis, interpretation, and presentation systems
  • Use of other office systems such as email, calendar, and other ancillary functions
  • Transportation and telematics system
