The role - what you'll do Barr is seeking a water resources engineer to join our Bismarck team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Water Resources group, working on projects with a diverse team of engineers and scientists and completing water resources, civil engineering, and related technical assignments. Assignments may include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, GIS, and CADD work. A successful person in this role will have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. They must possess a flexible working style and be willing to occasionally modify their schedule to meet deadlines and/or client needs. Your impact - key responsibilities Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis: hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control, hydraulic analysis and design related to storm sewer infrastructure, rivers, streams, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures. Reporting: assist with the preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications, and work with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials. Project and task management: assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to project managers and clients. About the opportunity Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Bismarck, North Dakota, office. Work environment: ability to work in an office environment. About you - required core competencies Education: bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources. Experience: 5+ years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality. Experience leading tasks or projects. Experience and knowledge of hydrologic modeling and 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software. Driver's license: possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future. Helpful additional experience (not required) Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology and/or hydraulics. Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year. Experience in business development and client management. Experience with water quality modeling and analysis. Working knowledge of GIS and CADD software. Experience with site development design, plans, and/or specifications. Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience. Compensation: anticipated range of $80,000-$100,000. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
