Position SummaryThe
Department of Biology at the University of New Mexico invites applications for
a Post-Doctoral Fellow to begin in June 2026. This is a full-time position with
specialization in Biology Education Research. Applicants must have a PhD in biology
education research, STEM education research, discipline-based education
research (DBER), or a closely related field with an emphasis on mixed methods
research by date of appointment. For best consideration, all application
materials must be received by March 13, 2026.

The
responsibilities of this position will be to lead data collection and analysis
efforts on grant-funded program-related research projects. Candidate will
engage in scholarship activities (publishing and presenting at conferences) and
mentor undergraduate students in education research. It will include working
collaboratively across NSF grant PIs and leadership and assisting with NSF
grant program logistics. The position will also assist with development,
implementation, and assessment of development of nationwide program that aims
to improve graduate teaching assistant teaching professional development
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Doctoral degree in biology education
research, STEM education research, discipline-based education research (DBER),
or a closely related field with an emphasis on mixed methods research by date of application
2. Teaching experience at the college or
university level
3. A broad understanding of the
literature on evidence-based teaching practices and STEM education

Preferred
Qualifications:


1) Mixed-methods education research
experience (strong qualitative and quantitative experimental design, data
collection and analysis skills)
2) Experience using statistical software
(e.g., R /R Studio or similar)
3) Experience with qualitative data
analysis software (e.g., Maxqda)
4) Experience leading manuscript
preparation (writing, and peer review processes)
5) Supervision and mentorship of
undergraduate researchers
6) Familiarity with the literature on change theory and graduate student teaching and learning
8) A demonstrated commitment to
cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to
the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
