What You'll Do
The Dakota County Parks Department is currently recruiting to fill Temporary Recreation Survey Assistant positions for the upcoming summer season. The purpose of the Recreation Survey Assistant position is to count visitors to Dakota County Parks and Greenways, answering questions from park visitors on site and giving park user direction.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
And
  • Possess a valid driver's license
Pursuant to Dakota County Policy and Procedures Manual, this position is designated as Safety Sensitive.

Duties & Responsibilities

These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

1. Observes and records the public's use of Dakota County Parks and Greenways and conducts visitor satisfaction interviews following established survey methods and procedures.
2. Submits collected data in a prescribed, legible format.
3. Performs accurate and timely data entry
4. Greet and interact with customers at assigned locations and facilities, answering questions about the parks.
5. Travel to and from count sites utilizing personal vehicle.
6. Perform other duties as apparent or assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment

  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) Count shifts vary depending on day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite; ArcGIS skills and experience with interactive technologies a plus
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions

Work Environment
Work is performed outside County buildings in varied weather conditions. There will be exposure to varied weather conditions on the worksite that occasionally necessitates the use of rain gear, sunscreen, gloves, etc. Work may occur along park trails, in vehicles, along roadways, etc.
