Position Summary:This role is a key contributor in the Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) organization and plays a central role in connecting the strategy of preparing to meet future energy demands with the strict regulatory compliance needed to accomplish that strategy. This role is for a self-starter that will be a crucial member of the company's Carolinas resource planning team and will play a key role in preparing executives and subject matter experts to testify before regulators on the often-complex topics of electric industry resource planning and execution. The ideal candidate must already understand how electric utilities operate and have a basic understanding of utility regulatory processes, including seeking approvals to construct new generation assets and the financial planning and execution to build those facilities. The successful candidate can navigate between the worlds of analytics, modeling and regulatory process with the ability to also translate those concepts to external stakeholders and the communities Duke Energy serves in the Carolinas. The person who takes this role must be a student of the utility business with awareness of emerging industry issues and the ability to proactively assess their potential impact on Duke Energy's resource planning - and recommending appropriate next steps. They must be able to listen attentively and communicate effectively both orally and in writing at a subject matter expert level while presenting ideas and concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
