Pay Grade: 10


Salary Range: $71,216 - $102,474


Salary range updated 2/26/2026. Actual compensation within the pay range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.


Location: Providence, RI




Principal Objectives



Performs administration of commercial loans for the Commercial Banking division. Ensure loan activities and correspondence are processed in a timely manner; internal and external customer service is maintained at a high level; and bank standards practices and procedures are followed. Excellent computer skills, business writing, and communication skills are required.



Ensure processing of loans and modifications submitted are accurate, complete, appropriately approved, properly documented, and timely with minimal errors or need for follow-up or re-work. Maintain a strong working relationship with internal and external partners Provide feedback to identify opportunities for improvement; identify solutions; proactively resolve problems and overcome obstacles.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities




  • Provides a high level of customer support to clients, lenders, internal departments and others to ensure a high-quality experien
  • Assists lenders with closings, including coordination of documentation, preparation of the loan files, funding of the loan and establishment of deposit accounts/cash management services.
  • Perform administrative duties across the division as needed, including the preparation of correspondence, presentations, coordination of activities for office locations and ordering of office supplies.
  • Supervise, train and coordinate activities of other commercial lending assistants (such as oversee preparation of loan closing documents and files, coordinating with lenders and closing attorneys)
  • Oversee follow up activity on closed books and modifications; i.e. post-closing exceptions; resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure loan files (both in paper and electronic form) are in good order, completed timely, and meet Brookline Bancorp standards.
  • Coordinate with the lenders to resolve items on exception reports from Loan Servicing.
  • As necessary, contribute to development of procedures, job aids and best practices.
  • Work with Lenders, Retail/Branch, Cash Management in onboarding new client deposit relationships and maintaining existing relationships.
  • Support automation initiatives (as applicable).



Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience)




  • Understanding of Brookline Bancorp's Credit Policy and other policies and procedures.
  • Ability to review legal documentation, ensure it matches the approval documentation (CAM) and quickly identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • High level of competency in understanding legal documents and translating them to Loan Servicing for booking or modifications using clear and accurate instructions.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining loan files electronically and paper files as required. Oversee processes to ensure the files are complete, timely, and in good order.
  • Practical skills and working knowledge of applicable bank systems, including, but not limited to: Jack Henry's Silverlake; Synergy; nCino.
  • Working knowledge of the bank's additional products and services (i.e. Cash Management/FX).
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite software programs.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' commercial banking/administration experience
  • BA or advanced degree in a related business discipline preferred but not required.
