SUMMARY
The Mental Health Therapist provides comprehensive psychological and social care through assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and care planning. Working collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team, the MHT II addresses psychosocial barriers, supports safe and effective care progression, and delivers education and interventions that optimize patient outcomes.



Key Responsibilities

  • Independently performs diagnostic intakes and provides psychotherapy for a full clinical caseload.
  • Conducts comprehensive psychosocial assessments and develops individualized treatment and care plans.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to facilitate care coordination and discharge planning.
  • Completes timely, compliant documentation that reflects assessments, goals, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Maintains an active network of community referrals and connects patients/families with appropriate services.
  • Observes and reports medication effects and consults with physicians regarding potential adjustments.
  • Assists with resource referrals, capacity assessments, guardianships, psychiatric referrals, abuse/neglect/IPV concerns, endoflife needs, and charity care.
  • Facilitates family meetings and utilizes Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) per Joint Commission standards.
  • Participates in team rounds, quality improvement projects, and institutional or community committees.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to staff and students; may supervise LGPCs if Boardapproved.
  • Provides oncall coverage and conducts home visits as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications
Education

  • Master's degree in Applied Psychology or related field.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health frameworks, psychosocial impacts of illness, and community resources.
  • Ability to work independently in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Skilled in assessment, treatment planning, counseling, conflict resolution, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Proficient with EHR systems and standard communication technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Licensure

  • Valid LCPC, LCSWC, LMSW, or LGPC.

Salary Range: Minimum 34.62/hour - Maximum 57.19/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
