The Field Quality team's mission is to improve customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues.The role isresponsible forourchargingproductportfolioincluding, but not limited toSuper& Megacharger,Optimus ChargingandWall connectorandworkscross functionallywith other engineering and service teams.We are seeking a multi-facetedengineer who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affectingproducts.To be effective, the Field Qualityengineer will need to be intimately familiar with the detailed behavior of our Energy Products and the tools and equipment used in their design and manufacture. They will work with otherengineering teams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures of field issues to improve quality, reliability,anddurability of the products.
What You'll Do
- Monitor products field performance, identify trending issues. Prioritize based onseverity, occurrence, and/or cost of each failure mode
- Triage emerging trends and useengineeringfirst principalsto come up withfailurehypothesis
- Coordinateefforts withthe Failure Analysis teamtoidentify rootcausesof problems
- Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical engineering and PCBA manufacturing to drive containment and corrective action implementation into production / design / supplier / Firmware
- Communicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in fromengineering leadershipon improvement priorities and urgency
- Drive continuous improvement in design and performance by providing direct and accurate feedback to design owners
- Share Lessons Learned from previous field issues; Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviews to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are identified and risks mitigated (DFMEAs)
- Take part in ongoing optimization of the products and processes (performance, cost, technology)
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- 2+ yearsof hands-on experience in power electronics hardware design, design validation, hardware testing, mechanical system reliability,ordurability testing(including relevant internship or academic lab work experience)
- Ability/experience to navigate existing software/firmware tools and logs to identify and label failure modes encountered
- The successful candidate for this position must have a broadengineeringbackground with the ability to work withdesignengineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues
- Exceptional problem solving and Failure Analysis, strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside
- Ability to use tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data
- Preferred: Experience with inverters, EV batteries, HV controls, and/or industrial grid codes
- Preferred: Experience working with DC Fast charging systems/features (e.g. high-voltage DC busses, DC isolation monitoring, grid-tied systems, network diagnostics, CAN communication, PLC, Modbus, TCP/IP protocols, etc.)

Expected Compensation
$109,600 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
