Description

HDR is looking for an innovative and self-driven expert in Bentley software to work in the Transportation Business Group's Digital Delivery business class. A major part of the role would be providing expertise, solutions and training to production teams using Bentley products, development or modification of client and project workspaces, and assisting projects with migration from legacy Bentley software. Additionally, the role would include support of HDR technology teams in development and maintaining tools and applications to interface with the Bentley Systems Suite of software, to support and improve using these programs for project delivery and HDR enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for application development and improvement across all Transportation sectors utilizing Bentley products and collaborate with the Applied Technology Office and Corporate Technology to develop and implement solutions.

  • Develop, update, and troubleshoot Bentley Systems software workspaces to support project needs.

  • Facilitate migration of projects and teams from legacy and unsupported versions of Bentley software to current and supported versions.

  • Develop and facilitate training and resources and guidelines on Bentley software, with a primary focus on the OpenX platforms.

  • Troubleshoot software usage issues for projects using Bentley products as part of the Subject Matter Expert team.

  • In a limited capacity, work directly on projects to support advanced uses of Bentley products in production and Digital Delivery and act as a CAD Manager/BIM Manager/Digital Delivery Lead on some projects.

  • Support BIM Managers with oversight of the project's digital model environment and deliverables, supporting multidiscipline teams from project initiation through closeout.

  • Working with project BIM Managers to support development and execution of Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) requirements on schedule.

  • Implementation and/or development of processes to maintain model quality, standards, and health, monitoring coordination, model performance, and compliance throughout design and construction documentation phases.

  • Support and coordinate project teams, providing technical support, ensuring appropriate software access and training, hosting digital coordination meetings, and implementing processes for managing, milestone deliverables, exchanges, and archiving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 3 years digital delivery (model management) experience
  • Mastery in Bentley Model Authoring/CAD software such as Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenRail Designer, etc.

  • Strong understanding of Digital Delivery/BIM Management on linear infrastructure projects.

  • 5+ years of experience with civil engineering/site development projects, with proven track record serving as BIM Manager.

  • Bentley workspace development experience.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical training and troubleshooting solutions in Bentley software.

  • Ability to manage CAD standards and workspaces in Common Data Environments (e.g., ProjectWise), with familiarity with ISO-19650 standards.

  • Certified Professional in Bentley OpenRoads Designer, with experience integrating GIS into BIM workflows and publishing 3D models to GIS.

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or similar preferred.

  • Understanding of current and future artificial intelligence applications in the AEC industry and BIM/CAD, including potential benefits and risks.

  • Build automations and custom tools for ProjectWise, MicroStation, and OpenX products (e.g., OpenRoads).

  • Develop applications and add-ins using C# and .NET with Bentley API/SDKs.

  • Create and maintain automation tools through scripts in Python, PowerShell, and VBA.

  • Use Bentley API/SDKs to automate workflows, model processing, and data management.

  • Improve engineering workflows by identifying and implementing automation opportunities.

  • Troubleshoot and support existing automation tools and scripts.

  • Implement DevOps practices, including version control using GitHub.

Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree or a combination of education and related industry experience
  • A minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems
  • Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools
  • Advanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Familiar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications
  • Familiar with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies
  • Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications
  • Familiar with content creation and management concepts
  • Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support
