Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is seeking an experienced Senior Workday Reporting Analyst to join our team. This is a regular, fixed-term position for one year, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate may work either remotely or in a hybrid onsite arrangement. The Senior Workday Analyst is a hands-on individual contributor role responsible for delivering high-quality Workday reporting, analytics, and supporting HCM configuration to meet business needs. Reporting to the Director of People Data & Analytics, this role serves as a key point of contact for stakeholders-providing timely, accurate, and thoughtful responses to questions, translating requirements into solutions, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. You will bring advanced expertise in Workday reporting (including composite and matrix reports), along with functional knowledge of Workday HCM modules. This role supports both individual stakeholder requests and broader community reporting needs, while also contributing to governance-aligned reporting practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and sustainability across the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:

  • Design, build, and maintain advanced Workday reports (composite, matrix, dashboards), including development of calculated fields to support complex reporting needs.

  • Translate stakeholder requirements into scalable, accurate reporting solutions that support both individual and enterprise-wide needs.

  • Troubleshoot reporting issues, validate data accuracy, and continuously improve reports for usability, performance, and standardization.

  • Support Workday HCM configuration, including business processes, data structures, and system enhancements.

  • Partner with functional and technical teams on integrations, ensuring accurate data flow, validation, and issue resolution-particularly for Benefits and downstream systems.

  • Assist with testing, validation, and deployment of configuration and integration changes.

  • Facilitate requirements gathering, working sessions, and solution reviews; document, validate, and confirm requirements prior to build.

  • Maintain clear, structured documentation for reports, configurations, integrations, and processes to support sustainability and knowledge sharing.

  • Serve as a trusted resource by responding to stakeholder questions with clarity, accuracy, and timeliness, delivering a high level of customer service.

  • Lead demos and walkthroughs to confirm understanding, drive adoption, and translate complex concepts into user-friendly guidance.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve system effectiveness, and enhance user experience.

  • Contribute to reporting governance by supporting standard definitions, naming conventions, and data usage practices, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards while meeting business needs.

Physical Demands

  • Primarily sedentary and requires some repetitive motion such as data entry.

Travel required.

  • Occasional travel to Woods Hole, MA for department meetings, trainings, etc.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Business, Human Resources, Analytics, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience supporting HR/payroll/benefits data management, analytics, and/or reporting

  • 3+ years of Workday experience, with a strong focus on:

  • Advanced report writing (composite, matrix, calculated fields)

  • Workday HCM configuration

  • Benefits and Talent related integrations

  • Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements

  • Experience supporting both individual and broad organizational reporting needs

Preferred education and experience

  • Workday HCM for Administrators Certification

  • Workday Reporting Certification

  • SHRM/PHR or other HR certifications

Additional Job Requirements

Salary Range: $100,691.14 - $131,049.12 USD

The salary range provided for this position reflects the expected minimum and maximum base pay for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market conditions. In addition to base salary, eligible employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package.
