Job Summary
The Montefiore Administrative Nurse Manager maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement. The Administrative Nurse Manager actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center. The Administrative Nurse Manager participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills.

The Administrative Nurse Manager demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served. This position is accountable for managing all clinical administrative functions (patient care delivery, fiscal, material and human resources) of nursing unit(s) within a Care Center on a 24-hour basis.

The position is responsible to create an environment in which autonomy is nurtured, encouraged and reflected in a highly competent workforce capable of providing quality care. Professional interdisciplinary collaboration, communication and teamwork enacted enable care delivery to the customers and community to improve health and wellness.

The position is responsible to uphold compliance with Montefiore Medical Center's policies/procedures, service excellence standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Integrates the standards of excellence into daily clinical practice.
  • Integrates management/leadership skills into daily clinical/administrative practice.
  • Demonstrates professional growth and accountability for own practice and facilitates the professional growth and development of assigned associates.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for maintaining professional competency through participation in professional activities.
  • Executes responsibility and accountability for own practice
  • Facilitates learning needs of self and staff by providing opportunities for staff development to gain skills necessary to provide age specific care to the patients serviced on the assigned clinical area.
  • Defines and implements a patient care delivery system that assures effective outcomes.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for all administrative issues within the care center for 24 hours a day and medical center on weekend shifts and holidays.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership and communication skills by setting expectations, developing and communicating plans and managing processes to assess, improve and maintain quality services provided in areas of accountability.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to manage and provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population served.
  • Facilitates and promotes the delivery of Patient/Family Centered Care to a divergent customer population.
  • Demonstrates prudent fiscal management of human and material resources to support the fiscal viability of the Medical Center.

Qualifications

  • BSN Required
  • 4-6 years 5+ years of clinical experience Required
  • 1-3 years Minimum of 3 years management experience Required
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal relationships, effective English
    communication skills, (written, oral and interpersonal) ability to problem
    solve, ability to motivate, develop, and coach individuals and groups, ability
    to appropriately confront issues, and ability to think creatively. A strong
    commitment to furthering institutional performance measures through
    interdisciplinary teamwork is essential.
  • Effective management/leadership skills necessary to organize, direct and evaluate the activities of nursing and hospital personnel.
  • Analytical skills necessary for problem solving and clinical decision-making.

  • Annual Assessment - OHS Required
  • Registered Nurse New York - New York State Board of Nursing Required
  • Fit Test - OHS Required

Education: Current New York State Registered Nurse license. BSN Required
Master's Degree in Nursing or Health related field preferred
Clinical: 5+ years of clinical experience
Management: Minimum of 3 years management experience required
