CLA is looking to hire a Market Facing-Chief Financial Officer for our fast-growing Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice, based out of either one of our office locations located in Ohio or Illinois.

In this role, you will manage a team of 10+ accounting and finance professionals to deliver outsourced accounting solutions to clients as well as provide CFO consulting services yourself. The Consulting & Outsourcing team has experienced significant growth over the past few years, and this role will implement strategic initiatives to continue to grow the team and scale the operations.

Market Facing / Business Development Responsibilities...

  • Develop key external business network to grow the CAAS practice.

  • When applicable, in a specific industry, be known as a CAAS thought leader both within the firm and externally.

  • Manage internal and external referrals through use of firm customer relationship management software.

  • Interact and coordinate with internal client relationship leaders to grow services with existing CLA clients seamlessly.

  • Lead proposal writing and presentation efforts as needed.

As a CFO you will...

  • Work with clients to set financial policy and drive overall business strategy.

  • Frequently partner with client's leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise, providing recommendations based on financial analysis of projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.

  • Monitors progress of budgets and presents operational metrics.

  • Ensures financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds. Manages cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.

  • Builds strong client relationships and becomes a key member of client management teams.

  • Manage Capital planning, risk management, ratio and KPI analysis, and board of director interactions.

  • Maintain knowledge of client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

  • Understanding of GAAP and industry related technical expertise.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role.

  • Deep nonprofit industry specialization.

  • General knowledge of accounting software.Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Intacct, and Bill.com preferred.

  • Experience in using personal and professional network for business development and proven record of building and managing teams through growth.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree is required (in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field is highly preferred). Combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.

  • CPA not required but highly preferred.

  • Travel: This position works primarily in-office, as well as frequent local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes. Must have ability to travel to local client sites as needed.

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in Illinois: $127,000.00 - $228,000.00 (annual)
