PRIMARY PURPOSE



CNA Corporation is hiring for the role of Radar Test Engineer. This position is located primarily onsite at Naval Air Station (NAS) Point Mugu with significant work at Edwards Air Force Base. This position is in the Test & Evaluation (TAE) team in the Advanced Technology Division at CNA. The Radar Test Engineer works with other engineers and project officers in F-35 aircraft mission systems flight testing. This position is responsible for test planning, supporting test flight briefings/debriefings, providing real-time control room monitoring during test execution, coordination of data acquisition, post-test reporting, and support to mission data analysis and anomaly resolution efforts. CNA's Advanced Technology Assessments (ATA) Division provides test data and analysis that evaluates the military utility and efficacy of emerging defense technologies and prototypes, operational test and evaluation of DOW programs of record, and tactics development and resourcing decisions for existing naval aircraft.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND / OR DUTIES


1. Review and evaluate test requirements to develop radar and RF (radio frequency) system test plans.



2. Monitor radar and other RF systems during flight and ground testing.



3. Conduct initial analysis of test results and ensure data adequacy.



4. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and test operations personnel in the design and execution of tests, analysis of data, and reporting of results, including the interpretation of the significance of the findings.



5. Draft reports and technical papers on the results of developmental and/or experimental flight testing of the aircraft. Compile, reduce, format, analyze and present test data.



6. Work independently and proactively within scope of assigned tasks in mixed government/contractor team.



7. Perform other duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS


1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related STEM field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.



2. Experience: Minimum three years of progressive work experience including radar, RF systems design and/or active and passive RF systems test experience. Experience with signal processing and target tracking directly related to area of expertise is required; experience with military ship or aircraft radars, and RF datalinks is preferred.



3. Skills: Ability to apply practical knowledge of electrical / RF systems engineering to integrated system testing. Ability to provide solutions to RF system test planning, execution and data analysis problems of moderate scope/complexity; able to identify and work toward team goals in unstructured environments; commitment to prioritize tasks in support of collaborative efforts; initiative to understand tactical context and organizational goals; strong technical reading comprehension in the absence of LLM availability.



4. Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance. Final Secret clearance with investigation or CV date within 5 years at time of hiring is required. Current Top Secret clearance is highly preferred.



5. This position is not eligible for telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements. Flexible Work schedule is authorized at the discretion of the supervisor.

CNA follows a broad band compensation framework that considers a range of criteria in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience; degree, certifications, other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $87,100 - $120,000.
