Core Knowledge & Skills: Designs complex network and hybridcloud solutions; implements security controls, DR/BCP, and automated IaC with deployment pipelines; performs advanced performance tuning. Work & Complexity: Solves complex issues, designs and delivers new infrastructure solutions, performs capacity planning, and leads advanced automation initiatives. Quality & Independence: Drives rootcause analysis, enforces best practices and QA on changes, optimizes for reliability and user experience; operates with high autonomy. Teamwork & Communication: Leads crossfunctional efforts, mentors juniors, facilitates knowledge transfer, and aligns stakeholders with technical plans. As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Operations and Maintenance Technician - Azure Landing Zone & Azure Virtual Desktop.
Title: Operations and Maintenance Technician - Azure Landing Zone & Azure Virtual Desktop Level: Mid-Level Department: Cloud Operations / Infrastructure Services Reports To: Cloud Operations Manager or Infrastructure Team Lead
The Operations and Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day health, stability, and operational performance of Azure Landing Zone infrastructure and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments. This role provides hands-on administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational support across core Azure services, platform governance constructs, and virtual desktop infrastructure. The ideal candidate has practical experience supporting Azure-based enterprise environments, understands cloud operational disciplines, and can work effectively within established governance, security, and change management processes.
Azure Landing Zone Operations Support
Support the ongoing operation and maintenance of Azure Landing Zone components, including management groups, subscriptions, policies, role-based access controls, and networking constructs.
Assist with administration of core Azure infrastructure services such as virtual networks, network security groups, route tables, storage accounts, key vaults, backup, monitoring, and resource locks.
Perform routine operational tasks including validation checks, configuration updates, patch coordination, log review, and issue remediation.
Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, asset inventories, and support procedures for Azure infrastructure services.
Azure Virtual Desktop Support
Provide day-to-day support for Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, session hosts, application groups, workspaces, FSLogix profiles, and user access configurations.
Troubleshoot user connectivity issues, session reliability problems, login delays, profile container issues, and application delivery concerns.
Support integration and operational coordination with identity, networking, storage, and endpoint management teams as required for AVD service delivery.
Incident, Change, and Service Operations
Coordinate with engineering, architecture, security, and service desk teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
3-6 years of IT infrastructure, cloud operations, or end-user computing support experience. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
Familiarity with Azure core services such as virtual machines, networking, storage, monitoring, identity integration, and backup/recovery.
Working knowledge of Azure governance concepts including subscriptions, RBAC, policies, and resource organization.
Experience with FSLogix, Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity, and profile/container troubleshooting.
Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or automation tools such as PowerShell, ARM, Bicep, or Terraform.
Typical Duties in This Role
At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $102,000-$154,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
