| Position Highlights |
The Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing in Office of Research & Partnerships at the University of Arizona is seeking a part-time Technical Director. The Technical Director will work with leading semiconductor, integrated photonics and optical packaging and industry partners to develop industry focused projects. The Technical Director will assist the Director in creating a roadmap and implementing the roadmap for growing semiconductor, photonics, and optical co-packaging research and workforce training at the University of Arizona. The Technical Director will work with US-based and international academic partners for establishing long-term collaborations. The mission of the Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing is to coordinate and facilitate an institutional focus on advanced microelectronics research and on meeting the needs of commercial and defense stakeholders and securing the needed external resources to develop multidisciplinary R&D solutions and workforce training programs that are responsive to semiconductor sector needs. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site work at the University of Arizona campus with remote work flexibility. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Lead the development and execution of the Center's technical roadmap in photonic integration and co-packaged optics, aligning research priorities with emerging industry and national technology needs.
- Partner with corporate stakeholders to map sector-wide R&D directions, identify collaboration technical collaboration and partnership opportunities, and ensure the Center's initiatives remain at the forefront of photonics innovation.
- Build and manage large-scale public-private research partnerships, including securing funding, shaping multi-institutional collaborations, and translating research into deployable technologies.
- Collaborate with the Director to design and implement a comprehensive technical roadmap for semiconductor, photonics, and optical packing research and development.
- May serve as PI/Co PI on sponsored projects, identifying funding opportunities and leading proposal preparation.
- Provide feedback to CSM-affiliated faculty and students on research and workforce training.
- Represent the University of Arizona and the Center at technical conferences and present when appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Prior knowledge and experience serving in leadership roles in academia and industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of having been part of large federally and industry funded grants focused on semiconductors and photonics.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
