APPOINTMENT TYPE: Full-Time Regular

LOCATION: Oak Ridge

*SALARY RANGE: $23.44 - $32.60

PURPOSE: To perform a variety of complex and difficult records management functions in direct support of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Dose Reconstruction Program's major activities. This job requires proficiency in support of data capture activities, data entry and a variety of records management functions. Requires understanding of project priorities and specialized training in the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000 (EEOICPA), the Privacy Act, and proprietary databases.



Responsibilities

    Provides records management support for the Project's data capture activities. Travels to provide data capture support by scanning/filing/tracking/reporting of selected information prior to, during and following data capture trips. Provides scanning support (setting up, trouble-shooting problems, scanning, etc.) for documents retrieved during data capture activities. Follows Project policies and procedures to ensure proper capture and tracking of documents
  • Performs records indexing duties (data entry and quality control) within Project Site Research Database. Enters and catalogs bibliographic information from documents captured into Project databases. Performs editing and verification of data entered.
  • Reviews captured documents to identify personnel names and individual dosimetry data. Once identified, catalogs and enters personnel names from captured documents into a Project database for comparison and linking to claimants.
  • Gathers information for reports, documents, and presentations. Operates a personal computer to create and maintain complex data files utilizing project management, spreadsheet, database, presentation and word processing software programs.


Qualifications

High school diploma and 4-6 years of job related experience. Higher level education above minimum may count for additional experience.

  • Must be experienced in a range of data collection tasks from actual scanning of hard-copy, historical documents to cataloging/data entry of documents into databases.
  • Requires ability to learn Project databases and scanning software.
  • Demonstrated success in working with team members in various positions and locations is required.
  • Requires the thorough understanding of, or initiative and ability to quickly learn: all aspects of data collection within the Project organization, their function/role in relation to the Project as a whole,
  • Requires high level proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft software products
  • Must have the ability to be flexible and move from one task to another, as well as work with different personalities to achieve the goals of the program.
  • Must be detail-oriented, well-organized and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compose correspondence and proofread for proper English.
  • Must understand and adhere to program policies regarding confidentiality of records.
  • Ability to type 60+ words per minute
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and for periods of one week at a time
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable NACI background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance or Top-Secret clearance with the CDC is optimal.

*The candidate's starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate's qualifications to determine salary.
