Overview

Responsibilities

As a part-time Heavy Equipment Transport, Operations, and Training SME with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have the opportunity to do the following:

    Be (or be able to become) a Class-A CDL-qualified driver to transport a government heavy vehicle and equipment from Tucson, Arizona to areas across the Southwest and Southern border areas.
  • Load, transport and stage Government-Furnished Property (GFP), including government-furnished medium-duty commercial truck (e.g., Chevrolet Silverado 5500HD) and 18' double-axle trailer and government equipment (GCWR > 37,500 lbs), in accordance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with deployment, operation, relocation, and recovery of government equipment components during field adjudication operations.
  • Plan and execute logistics, preparation, and post-mission reset of equipment kits for field employment.
  • Operate, maneuver, and support deployment of the drill rig (loaded on the heavy equipment trailer), including driving, site employment, redeployment, and recovery in accordance with manufacturer specifications and government safety protocols.
  • Develop, document, and maintain procedures for maintenance, sustainment, preparation, deployment, redeployment, and storage of all equipment loaded on the heavy equipment trailer.
  • Provide on-the-job training-based insights and incorporate manufacturer-recommended practices to develop training courses for other personnel on: Mini-Drill, skid steer rig and mast, and air compressor.
  • Develop and deliver a hybrid (virtual and in-person) training program and course curriculum for operators leveraging training materials and instruction provided by equipment vendors.
  • Prepare and maintain a comprehensive Training Plan covering all related heavy equipment and systems, including detailed online and in-person syllabi.
  • Coordinate closely with Government program to align support services with program priorities, operational schedules (1-2 weeks/month in the field), and IV&V and systems engineering processes.
  • Submit Weekly Progress Reports summarizing activities, accomplishments, upcoming work, issues, and risks related to equipment transport, operation, and training.
  • Submit Daily Travel Reports documenting travel, daily field activities, work accomplished and planned next-day deliverables in support of operations


Qualifications

  • Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
  • 10+ years' experience with Customs and Border Protection
  • Degree in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field or equivalent military or law enforcement training.
  • Experience with various border security technologies; Knowledge of best practices related to deployment of border security technologies.
  • Understanding of the geographical and environmental conditions and challenges related to deployment areas and techniques for adapting to these conditions.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing border technology use and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment and tools; push, pull, and secure loads on trailers and vehicles; stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods; climb into and out of trucks, trailers, and equipment safely.
  • Ability to work safely in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Sufficient stamina to perform physically demanding tasks
  • The targeted hourly rate range for this position is $55.29 - $67.31 per hour, equivalent to approximately $115,000 - $140,000 annually, based on a projected schedule of 20 to 32 hours per week.


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $108,100.00/Yr. - USD $180,600.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
