Position Overview

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Business Manager, the Facilities Support Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the college facility to support an optimum teaching and learning environment, which includes performing routine cleaning, sanitation, facility support tasks, and upkeep of college facilities and related work as required. This will also include periodic internal relocations, reconfigurations, or modifications to furniture or infrastructure, as needed. Work assignments and workload may vary based on campus activity, class schedules, and special events, requiring flexibility and adaptability. Work is performed in an active campus environment and requires professionalism, courtesy, and awareness always. This role will work Monday-Thursday from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, with some evening and weekend work required based on the school calendar.




Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

Custodial Services:

  • Perform cleaning in all areas of buildings and floor areas such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and buffing using proper cleaning methods.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms and refill supplies.
  • Collect trash and recycling from receptacles, buildings, and grounds and dispose of them in designated areas.
  • Clean porches, entrances, windows, and common areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning and resetting of classrooms, labs, and campus spaces following daily use or special events. Frequency and intensity of cleaning may vary depending on class schedules, events, and the time of year.
  • Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, including entrances, walkways, parking lots, and common spaces.
  • Remove debris from roof areas, drainage areas, and other exterior surfaces as needed.
  • Estimate custodial supply needs.

Facilities & Event Support:

  • Reconfigure and set up classrooms, offices, and meeting areas, based upon requests.
  • Provide frequent setup and breakdown support for campus events, classes, and activities.
  • Assist with moving, arranging, and relocating furniture and equipment to support daily operations and special events

Inventory, Deliveries & Operational Support

  • Receive and assist with unloading deliveries, including mail, packages, and supply shipments
  • Transport and store materials and supplies in designated and appropriate locations,
  • Communicate regularly with Operations Coordinator and Facilities Director to monitor inventory levels and ensure custodial and facility supplies are stocked and organized.
  • Assist in maintaining orderly storage areas and supply rooms.
  • Operate a light vehicle to transport materials and equipment.

General Support & Safety:

  • Serve as an ambassador for the college to students, staff, faculty, and community visitors in the facilities. Meet and greet students, staff, and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner and frequently inquire if assistance is needed.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with campus departments.
  • Report facility repair needs, safety concerns, and hazards to the supervisor.
  • Assist with emergency clean-up as needed.
  • Lock and unlock doors as required.
  • Wash/clean college-owned vehicles. Safely use and maintain custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning products
  • Maintain awareness of workplace hazards, including biohazards
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, and operational guidelines. Be familiar with the location of Safety Data Sheets.
  • Assist with routine safety checks (fire extinguishers, exit lights, emergency lighting, etc.)
  • Maintain required certifications (e.g., ladder use, scissor lift, defensive driving, etc.)
  • Report security-related incidents to designated personnel and contact appropriate local emergency authorities as needed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • No previous work experience is necessary.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, chemicals, and custodial equipment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring efficient task completion, particularly during high-activity periods and between scheduled classes or events.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities throughout the day based on campus needs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards are consistently met.
  • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance and punctuality to support campus operations.
  • Show initiative to clean and correct deficiencies noted on the job.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude required.
  • Ability to safely use basic tools and equipment related to custodial and facility support tasks.


Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines. Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
