Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Maintenance Mechanic 4 (licensed Journeyman Electrician) position in the Facilities Maintenance department. The Maintenance Mechanic 4 (MM4) is the expert level of the Maintenance Mechanic series. Experts are responsible for shop administration and oversight of maintenance personnel, as well as others performing skilled maintenance, repair and modification of plant Electrical systems and mechanical equipment involved in buildings, special apparatus, utilities and facilities.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and repair all primary electrical distribution systems, motor control centers, switches, electrical panels, and lighting control systems.
  • Install conduit, wiring, electrical devices, panel boards, variable frequency drives, and programmable logic controllers.
  • Using diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Remodel and construct facilities in accordance with project requirements and current codes
  • Develop plans, cost estimates, and material specifications.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery to fabricate, construct, and install materials and equipment.
  • May assist and operate vehicles and equipment in the snow removal process during the winter months.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and schedule required inspections.
  • Reads plans and blueprints, inspects projects to ensure compliance with local codes, determines the scope of work, materials needed, estimated cost, and availability
  • Develops and conducts a preventative maintenance program for electrical infrastructure
  • Lead and instruct helpers and other trade workers as needed.
  • Assist, coordinate, and/or work with other trade workers as needed.
  • Enter data on Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) as required.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • Five (5) years of experience as an electrician.
  • Current valid Washington State Commercial Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Current valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Knowledge of Washington state electrical codes.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and sketches.
  • Ability to safely use and maintain hand, power, and specialized electrical tools.

Supplemental Information

  • Ability to use various tools required of an electrician.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, plans, and sketches; estimate materials and time needed to complete jobs; use and maintain hand and power tools, specialty electrician tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including students, staff, faculty, peers, vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more if needed.
  • Ability and willingness to understand and follow laws, regulations, and other standards established to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and respond to after-hour emergencies as needed.
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $5,501 - $6,384/month| Step G-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 53G | Code: 626M

Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
