Description
The School for Community and Economic Development at West Virginia University is seeking qualified part-time Adjunct Instructors to teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses on a per-semester basis. The school includes academic majors such as Agribusiness Management and Applied Economics, Agricultural and Extension education, Landscape Architecture, Sustainable Design and development, Sustainable Trails development, rural community development, and human and community development. Courses may be offered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format, depending on program needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned course(s) in accordance with established course outlines and syllabi.
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with program goals in areas such as community development, rural policy, economic development, civic engagement, nonprofit leadership, or related fields.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and course materials.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Follow university and college policies related to instruction and academic integrity.
Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Community Development, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Agribusiness, Applied Economics, Regional Planning, Economics, Agricultural Education, or a related field is required; a terminal degree or significant professional experience may be preferred for certain courses.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in relevant subject matter.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
