What we do:

The Director of Accounting Reporting and Analytics, will be responsible for preparing reporting and data analytics to provide strategic and actionable insights derived from primarily historical financial data. The job includes analyzing data and identifying drivers, trends and root causes. Develop reports, automation of reports and develop dashboards, and drive adoption of these reports and dashboards.

This role reports to the VP, Corporate Controller. This role will be a liaison between the worldwide accounting reporting and FP&A, SEC reporting, Finance Systems, Business Intelligence and will also support reporting and analytics needs for the office of the Chief Accounting Officer. While there will be certain repeatable reporting and analytical outputs from the Director of Accounting Reporting and Analytics, a significant portion of this job is project- based or ad-hoc based on reporting or data support needs.

We're looking for an experienced professional that has an understanding of accounting systems and related output and the output from typical accounting systems such as Oracle ERP and other accounting and related reporting tools. We are looking for someone that has this understanding of systems and tools and the related data output including experience with producing detailed analysis from this output. Must also have project management skills and the ability to tailor complex financial analysis into visual narratives that support increasing the quality of decision making, being an input into risk management, and appropriate resource allocation.

What you'll do:



  • Design and prepare reports and dashboards on various accounting related data - including, but not limited to revenue, costs, accounting productivity, transaction velocity - analyzing drivers, trends, root causes and providing or facilitating business insights. Work with Business Intelligence and Finance Systems reporting teams to obtain data and design automated reports and dashboards.
  • Prepare summaries of data, providing recommendations for actions as a result of analysis of the data, and present results with a bias toward action.
  • Manage projects and cross functional teams to develop, design and implement reporting and analysis.
  • Triage and respond to internal requests for accounting related reporting
  • Assist the VP Corporate Controller and CAO with ad hoc projects and tasks
  • Actively participate in critical analysis of results and quarterly reviews with senior and executive leadership.


Who you are:



  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or a related field; MBA and/or CPA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in a combination of corporate finance (accounting/data analytics/FP&A).
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, financial reporting systems, report building and data visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles.
  • Proficient/Advanced Excel skills, with experience or interest in working with IT experts to extract data from and into databases (Oracle, Vertica, etc.) and building the design and testing reports and dashboards built in data visualization tools (Tableau & Incorta).
  • Proven ability to design and build reports and perform ad-hoc analyses.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely to senior management and business leaders that simplify complex issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lead cross functional projects - defining tasks and deliverables, holding project participants accountable, setting targets, due dates and communicating timelines. Ability to hit deadlines when working with cross functional teams.
  • High integrity and a proactive approach to supporting the business.

In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location.All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$137,300 $251,800 USD
