THE POSITION

We are hiring dedicated, compassionate candidates to participate in professional social casework training performed under a structured internship program. This County Social Casework Intern position offers the chance to gain first-hand knowledge and experience as our agency supports families, children, and the community through case management, advocacy, intervention, and preservation services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this County Social Casework Intern role, you will learn by observing and shadowing the daily activities of our Agency's caseworkers as well as discussing policy and cases with the supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to the following job duties:

  • Investigation of child abuse and neglect referrals.
  • In home services - intake and ongoing general protective services.
  • Foster care services - emergency placements.
  • Ongoing placement services and reunification.
  • Court documentation, preparation, and testimony.
  • Supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and collaboration with other social service providers.
  • Family Preservation services and case documentation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Enrollment as a full time student in a bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of 15 credits in one of the listed majors.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
