Operations Senior Technologist - Ellsworth ME

Working under minimal supervision, the incumbent in this position is responsible for operating a variety of equipment requiring the use of independent decision-making and judgment. The incumbents may oversee the receipt and distribution of inventory. The incumbent may also have the responsibility of operating a variety of sterilizer equipment. In smaller work groups the incumbent may be responsible for one or more areas of responsibility as outlined below.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Inventory Control - Conduct regular cycle counts and annual counts in conjunction with cost accounting. Verify incoming material and inventory. Participate in meetings with the responsibility to identify more efficient methods to better control inventory and monitor incoming and outgoing inventory. Order materials as needed from offsite storage and vendors. Pick supplies ordered from Warehouse and identify proper method of sanitation/sterilization. Enter all transactions in inventory control system. Record movement of all supplies through the autoclaves in inventory. Operation of VHP unit and back-up operation of autoclave sterilizers as needed. Assist in the planning, requisition and maintaining of an accurate inventory of materials needed for effective/efficient operations. Interact with external vendors and suppliers. Interact with internal customers on a regular basis. Participates in general warehouse duties, included but not limited to fork truck operation, physical movement of supplies, assist in unloading of delivery trucks, assist in scanning in shipping cartons, sorting, loading of shipping trucks, assist in maintaining the "dirty" hallways in a safe and clean environment, and sweep and buff floor as needed. Maintains warehouse in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Sterilizer Float - Operates steam autoclave, ethylene oxide sterilizer and vaporized hydrogen peroxide generators. Functions include powering up machines, loading of material onto proper racks, placing of biological indicators, recording of material being sterilized in proper logbooks. Unloading of sterilizers in various sterile areas, proper wrapping of supplies. Operates electric forklifts to retrieve and prep supplies for sterile transport containers.
  • Senior Float - In addition to consistently performing all essential functions of Float Technician, the incumbent will also be able to operate all sterilizers to include, ETO and VHP and CLO2. Ability to fill in for Sterilizer Float (an off-hour position). Able to scan in shipping cartons, assist in printing manifest for logistics transportation of mouse shipments. In RAF, monitors and records temperatures and air pressure in mouse rooms
  • Senior Sterilizer Operator - In addition to all the responsibilities of the Technologist-level Sterilizer Operator, the Senior Sterilizer Operator is responsible for the daily startup of all Production area sterilizing equipment and performs routine maintenance on sterilizer machinery.
  • Bldg56 Sterilizer Operator - Operates steam autoclaves and ethylene oxide sterilizer servicing repository rooms and RD. Functions include powering up machines, loading of material onto proper racks, placing of biological indicators, recording of material being sterilized in proper log-books, unloading of sterilizers in sterile area and proper wrapping of supplies, order and maintain consumable and rotating material inventory from appropriate supply areas using ERP inventory system fill in for supply monitor as needed, and perform barrier sanitation as required.
  • SSA Operations - Assists in receiving materials supplied into SSA. Processes supplies and wraps for delivery to animal rooms either by clean corridor or outside airlock. Inspects and verifies that biological indicators pass autoclave and VHP sterilization processes. Follows all quality standards of high-level barrier. Participates in assembly of shipping cartons.
  • Senior Trainer - In addition to the responsibilities of the Technologist Trainer, the Senior Trainer is responsible for ensuring consistency of training throughout Operations including WSA, CSA/PSA, and would extend into SSA and Warehouse operations across programs or facilities as required. They will oversee that proper documentation and training records are maintained across the program. The Senior Trainer along with area leadership will be responsible for identifying improvements to the training curricula and program. The Senior Trainer will be responsible to successfully integrate these improvements. They will participate in the development, writing, and revision of documents including work instructions, SOPs, forms, etc. as they relate to training. The Senior Trainer oversees the training and development of newly hired trainer(s) within these departments. In addition, they will participate in the interview process of the trainer(s) candidates.
  • All Areas - Safety - Complies with all safety procedures and policies; attends all safety related training; required to adhere to all testing requirements relating to PPE and to wear PPE as required.
  • All Areas - Sanitation - Sanitizes all processing equipment & machinery, floors, airlocks, locker rooms
  • All Areas - Quality - Quality control all materials processing equipment, sterilizing equipment, sterile supply equipment and all associated processes to ensure optimal standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must maintain a valid Maine driver's license and an ongoing clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of proper maintenance of assigned mechanical equipment.
  • Solid computer knowledge of operating systems and MS Office.
  • Ability to safely operate all models of fork trucks.
  • Ability to efficiently, effectively and safely operate all types of sterilizers across the operation.
  • The ability to perform physical tasks on a regular basis, including manipulating heavy object is, climbing step ladders, pushing, pulling, and regularly lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting 100 pounds.
  • The ability to maintain accurate records.
  • The ability to learn sanitation methods to meet the criteria needed to maintain the health status and ensure the well-being of mice.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive, team player behavior.

Educational Requirements - High School Diploma or GED required

Experience Requirements - 4 years required

Pay Range: $25.34 - $36.75
