The Mission

At Beyond New Horizons (BNH), we seek skilled individuals to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base, where you will operate and maintain the critical infrastructure that makes groundbreaking ground testing possible. You will command a diverse array of powerful systems-from massive electric motors and compressors to sophisticated control and data acquisition technologies. While we don't design the vehicles, we create the extreme conditions they must endure. Your work is essential to providing our customers with the vital data they need to validate design and ensure flight-worthiness for the next generation of aerospace systems.

Open to external candidates

A Role with Dynamic Responsibilities

This is not a role where you'll be siloed into a single function. We are a systems management-driven team, and you will be expected to contribute across the full lifecycle of our systems. One day you might be deep in calculations, the next you could be overseeing an installation, and the next you might be developing maintenance procedures. We are looking for a versatile and proactive engineer who thrives on this variety in solving problems and is eager to apply their skills to diverse challenges.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an Engineer in this role, you will be a versatile technical expert, applying your skills across a broad spectrum of engineering tasks as systems use and needs evolve. Your key duties will include:

Drive Engineering Excellence: Champion a culture of safety and practical technical rigor by ensuring all projects adhere to the highest engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
  • System Design & Modernization: Impact the current and future of our test capabilities by gathering stakeholder requirements, performing gap analyses, and fielding modifications to enhance and modernize our critical infrastructure.
  • Develop Technical Solutions with Excellence: Create the blueprint for mission success by preparing detailed specifications, statements of work, complex calculations, and comprehensive integrated systems engineering studies.
  • Safety & Reliability: Promote culture of safety and reliability in validating systems, including detailed design, system procurements, installation and commissioning plans, and implementing safety hazard analyses and reliability plans to guarantee system integrity and safety.
  • Guide Hands-On Execution: Provide technical guidance on the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
  • Collaboration: Act as a central engineering resource, interfacing with project managers, design engineers, systems engineers, and operations teams to ensure systems are mission-ready and maintenance is expertly planned.
  • Communicate with Impact: Clearly present technical information, project updates, and causal analyses to peers, management, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering from an ABET accredited university plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a related environment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with flexibility to accomplish mission objectives
  • Strong communication skills (including verbal and written) including the ability to convey complex technical information effectively to a broad audience
  • Demonstrated experience successfully building relationships with team across engineering and craft workforce
  • Strong organizational skills to track and facilitate progress on projects
  • Demonstrated proactiveness and initiative to drive to results
  • Exhibits strong level of technical curiosity and desire to seek understanding
  • Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance

Who You Are

  • You thrive in an environment where no two days are the same and are motivated by the challenge of solving diverse technical problems.
  • You are a multi-talented engineer who is not afraid to wear multiple hats and enjoys seeing a project through from concept to completion.
  • You are a lifelong learner with a flexible mindset, capable of shifting between analytical design work and hands-on, practical application.
  • You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.

If you are a problem-solver who is ready to make a tangible impact on the future of aerospace and defense, we encourage you to apply.
