Get to Know Your Team:

  • UT Health Tyler is the flagship hospital of the system serving hundreds of thousands annually. Specializing in advanced acute care medicine, our midtown location boasts a Level 1 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, the region's only EMCO program and a Level III NICU. Our medical staff includes more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain courteous and cooperative working relationship with all levels of management and employees, nurse patient/ family, guarantors and the general public.
  • Receives visitors at reception desk as they enter the hospital/ office in order to answer inquiries relative to patient room assignment and issues visitors passes to hospital area, using tact and diplomacy in enforcing visiting policies.
  • Establishes individual goals and objectives jointly with other team members.
  • Establishes individual annual performance goals jointly with the Admitting Manager.
  • Claims ownership of receptionist process though regular communication with other team member and attendance at periodic team meeting.
  • Answers multi-line telephones providing patient room numbers and general hospital information.
  • Assists patient or visitors in locating wheelchairs if necessary.
  • Assists visitors or patient by calling taxis, other hospital to locate a patient, giving directions to location such as hotels, physician's office and other hospitals in order to provide friendly and caring service.
  • Assists in the delivery of flowers, packages, and notes to patients by calling the correct nursing until requesting that someone by sent down to pick up what was left at the information desk in order that patient be immediately given their deliveries.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or physician's office setting.
  • Previous experience dealing with heavy telephones.
  • Basic computer skills required
