What to Expect
Candidates for Tesla Chiller Specialist will contribute inday-to-day operations that may be outside of their normal skill set, such as equipment repair and training/exposure to work unfamiliar with the candidate.
What You'll Do
- Performs routine maintenance and repair on chilled water, hot water, and steam heating systems, including associated equipment
- Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, testing, certification, and preventive maintenance on large-scale chiller and boiler systems
- Maintains detailed equipment logs and records to ensure compliance, traceability, and operational continuity
- Inspects, adjusts, and corrects control and safety device settings on chillers and boilers to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Opens, inspects, cleans, and troubleshoots chillers, condensers, cooling towers, belts, valves, backflow preventers, motors, and pumps
- Manages boiler system readiness through chemical water testing, winter startup procedures, summer shutdowns, and certification tracking
- Provides technical oversight, quality assurance, on-the-job training, and crew leadership for mechanics while managing tools, materials, and inventory
What You'll Bring
- Brings a minimum of 5 years of hands-on HVAC technician experience in industrial and commercial environments
- Demonstrates technical expertise in the installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial HVAC and process chilled water systems
- Applies in-depth knowledge of HVAC and electrical codes, terminology, practices, and procedures with strict compliance to federal, state, local, and county regulations
- Experienced with centrifugal and screw chillers, hot water and steam boiler systems, chilled water expansion systems, and SCADA/equipment monitoring platforms
- Maintains strong organizational and self-directed work habits, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks independently and effectively
- Communicates clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats, with a customer-focused mindset and strong teamwork skills
