What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect / Product Owner to join our team that is dedicated to the relentless pursuit of exceptional service in the national interest. Working closely with our Nuclear Deterrence (ND) and Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) customers, you will be responsible for developing a strategic product vision and roadmap to meet strategic mission needs.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Play a critical role in maximizing product value delivered to mission customers.
  • Define and communicate a clear product vision and roadmap that aligns with organizational goals and strategic objectives.
  • Manage backlog items and ensure stakeholder priorities are balanced with technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters and development teams to prioritize scope for Program Increment (PI) events.
  • Develop Digital Engineering solutions in collaboration with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) partners.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and design innovative solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing platforms.
  • Provide architectural insight to guide solution design, ensuring new capabilities are scalable, secure, and forward-looking.
  • Lead collaborative sessions to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and align deliverables with strategic goals.
  • Cultivate and pursue partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in the weapon and information technology communities, helping Sandia and its ND mission meet strategic objectives.
  • Partner to deliver valuable software to the mission leveraging modern technologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence).
Salary Range

$117,500 - $235,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience; or equivalent (AS + 9 years or no degree + 13 years).
  • 2+ years' experience in product ownership (or similar leadership) role driving agile process improvements, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience working with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) laboratories and plants including Pantex, Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Lawrence Livermore Laboratory (LLNL) and Kansas City National Security Campus/New Mexico Operations (KCNSC/NMO).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Nuclear Deterrence (ND) domain experience at Sandia, NSE sites, and/or NNSA, including knowledge of the Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise (PRIDE) Program.
  • Demonstrate strong strategic thinking, with ability to see and convey the big picture; critical thinking, synthesis and problem-solving; ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to a fast-paced, customer-focused operation; teaming; self-starting; excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with software architects, developers, technical leads, customers, and end users to collect requirements, develop vision, design solutions, and deliver high quality and easy-to-use software applications.
  • Experience aligning product strategy, vision, and roadmaps with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Experience guiding agile teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner certification.
  • Experience delivering large-scale, enterprise software solutions, leveraging Scrum and/or the Scaled Agile Framework.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software and custom software implementations, to include Supply Chain Planning solutions, product lifecycle and product data management solutions.
About Our Team

The Science and Engineering Information Systems (SEIS) Group, 9350, is a highly integrated team focused on delivering software and system solutions for the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) mission at Sandia and the NNSA Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).

Core capabilities in 9350 include software and data architectures, all aspects of software engineering, Agile software execution, configuration and asset management solutions, and emerging capabilities in augmented/virtual reality, 3D visualization, machine learning and data analytics. The organization's mission is to enable ND programs across the enterprise to deliver faster and more effectively. 9350 employs an agile product development and deployment process, and staff members are expected to drive process improvements through adoption of new techniques and industry best practices.

Posting Duration

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
