Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Corrosion Project Engineer with corrosion control experience in the petroleum pipeline industry and project management expertise to become part of our team!

Role Summary:

The Corrosion Project Engineer is responsible for providing safe, environmentally sound, reliable, and costeffective project management and engineering support for corrosion control systems and related pipeline and terminal infrastructure. This role implements and maintains Company corrosion control programs while leading corrosion-focused capital and maintenance projects through all phases of development and execution.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Corrosion Control & Regulatory Compliance



  • Implement and maintain Company corrosion control programs in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and Company policies.
  • Ensure cathodic protection systems are adequately designed, installed, operated, and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate corrosion control records in the Company's databases.
  • Support and participate in regulatory audits and inspections (e.g., PHMSA), including preparation of documentation and responses.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with regulatory agencies, internal integrity groups, and operations.



Program Execution & Technical Oversight



  • Schedule, perform, or manage corrosion control survey execution.
  • Analyze corrosion survey data to identify deficiencies and develop corrective actions.
  • Integrate corrosion findings with broader integrity management programs and risk assessments.
  • Provide engineering judgment for corrosion mitigation strategies, including CP system upgrades, modifications, and rep


Project Management



  • Lead corrosion-related projects through planning, development, execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, work plans, and resource requirements.
  • Prepare and manage AFEs, bid packages, contractor estimates, and bid evaluations for corrosion projects.
  • Coordinate downtime, commissioning, and startup activities with Operations, Control Center, and other functional groups.
  • Ensure completion of project deliverables including as-built documentation, equipment settings, commissioning records, and completion certificates.
  • Support Corrosion Specialists with project execution/management activities on an as-needed basis.


Contractor Management



  • Direct and oversee third-party contractors performing corrosion control and related construction work.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Company standards and specifications.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and recommend improvements or corrective actions as needed.


Technical Support



  • Serve as a corrosion subject matter expert for Operations, Integrity, Right-of-Way, and other field personnel.
  • Support Corrosion Engineers with engineering consultation related to corrosion risks, mitigation measures, and protection of pipeline and terminal assets on an as-needed basis.
  • Support responses to emergency events, including pipeline releases or CP system failures, as needed.


Training & Development



  • Support training and development of Corrosion Technicians and Operations personnel.
  • Promote best practices and consistent application of corrosion control procedures and engineering standards.
  • Maintain active AMPP certifications and represent the Company at corrosion coordinating committees and industry meetings.
  • Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes; recommend improvements to corrosion control practices, procedures, and specifications.
  • Other Duties as Assigned



Position Requirements:

Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field required.



Experience



  • 5+ years combined experience in corrosion control, engineering, and/or project management in pipeline, terminal, or related industries.
  • Hands-on experience with cathodic protection systems and corrosion control programs required.



Technical & Professional Skills



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable project management software.
  • Experience with corrosion control databases and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with project planning, estimating, scheduling, and contractor management.



Travel Requirements



  • Travel varies between 15% and 30%, depending on project and field support needs.



Certificates & Licenses:



  • AMPP Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2) required.
  • Additional cathodic protection or corrosion certifications preferred.
  • PMP certification desirable.
  • Valid driver's license required.



Other Skills, Attributes & Abilities:



  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to apply engineering judgment in field environments.
  • Well-organized, selfdirected project manager capable of handling multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with operations, contractors, and management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships across multiple departments.
  • Must be readily available to provide technical assistance during emergency response situations.



Essential Functions:



  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.



Physical & Safety Requirements:



  • Must be able to occasionally climb tank stairways, enter tanks through manways, walk pipeline right-of-way in all terrain and withstand extreme weather conditions in both summer and winter.
  • Normal office environment when not working in the field.
