What to Expect
As a Graphic Designer at Tesla, you will be responsible for the design development of visual elements for vehicle accessories, merchandise, and apparel. You will be part of the team that creates and executes world-class graphic design, branding, and product visuals to enhance Tesla's lifestyle and automotive ecosystem. Using your considerable design experience and innovative thinking, you will be tasked with working with the team in creating designs for accessories, merch, and apparel that align with Tesla's brand, but you may also be called upon for other design tasks (photography, illustration, etc.) based on your skillset. Our design team prides itself on being multitalented and flexible, and we look for the same in our potential candidates. This position is located in Los Angeles, California, and reports to the Global Vehicle Accessories and Merchandise Manager with direct lines to the design studio.
What You'll Do
- Develop and design assets for vehicle accessories, merchandise, apparel, web listings, marketing materials, and anything else that needs graphic design work to communicate Tesla's visual style in a creative way. This can be anything from full-on product campaigns from start-to-finish or unique one-off items like limited-edition tees, custom car wraps, or accessory packaging
- Some projects will require you to work with sales, engineers, product managers, textile specialists, and other professionals within the company to bring accessories and merch concepts to life
- Participate in cross-functional strategy, timing, and process discussions as it pertains to the brand, product launches, and our visual design principles for accessories and apparel
- Work cross-functionally with designers and key stakeholders of other disciplines, such as industrial design and merchandising
- Occasionally participate in design efforts outside of your area of expertise as necessity and as your own skillset dictates, such as contributing to broader branding or digital assets
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree or relevant years of experience in visual design, merchandising, or a related field
- Must be able to show a portfolio of work that reflects creative thinking, broad range, and modern, minimalist taste, with examples in apparel graphics, product packaging, or accessory design
- Beneficial to have in-depth technical knowledge of product development as it relates to graphic design (such as printing techniques for fabrics, web and mobile app integrations for e-commerce, merchandising strategies, etc.)
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), and either Sketch or Figma; experience with tools for apparel design (e.g., CLO or Browzwear) is a plus
- Ideal candidate will have added experience in some combination of the following: 3D modeling and visualization for products, motion graphics for promotional videos, animation, illustration, textile design, or merchandising
- Excellent at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships and exceptional visual and oral communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects and demonstrate an ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints, with examples of such scenarios throughout

Expected Compensation
$91,200 - $159,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
