Job Summary

The Structured Cabling Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of structured cabling, fiber optic, and telecommunications infrastructure projects from project kickoff through closeout. This role oversees project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource coordination, procurement, quality assurance, and client communication to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, manages field teams and subcontractors, and drives efficient project execution across commercial, data center, and technology infrastructure environments.

Job Responsibilities




  • Manage the full project lifecycle from project kickoff through final closeout and documentation.



  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements.



  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, labor plans, and material forecasts.



  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to support project execution.



  • Oversee the installation and deployment of structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, and related telecommunications infrastructure.



  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget commitments.



  • Manage project budgets, labor utilization, material costs, and overall project profitability.



  • Review and process change orders, scope modifications, and contract adjustments.



  • Track project documentation, field reports, milestones, billing schedules, and closeout deliverables.



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout project execution.



  • Provide regular project status updates and communicate risks, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders.



  • Conduct site visits to perform quality assurance reviews and verify compliance with project requirements.



  • Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards, client specifications, safety regulations, and local codes.



  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule or budget impacts.



  • Coordinate procurement activities and monitor material, equipment, and inventory requirements.



  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for additional low-voltage and technology infrastructure services.



  • Maintain accurate project records to support invoicing, reporting, and project closeout activities.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience managing structured cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage, or technology infrastructure projects.



  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale commercial, multi-site, or data center cabling projects.



  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems, fiber optic infrastructure, and network installation practices.



  • Understanding of industry standards, including BICSI and TIA/EIA guidelines.



  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, labor resources, subcontractors, and project documentation.



  • Ability to review construction drawings, CAD documents, site layouts, and riser diagrams.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.



  • Familiarity with project management software, scheduling tools, and construction documentation systems.



  • Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.



  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.



  • Ability to conduct on-site inspections, field evaluations, and project walkthroughs as required.



  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.




Education




  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.



  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent project management certification preferred.



  • RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification strongly preferred.
