Engineering Supervisor

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for overseeing departmental daily work flows to include assigned buildings and systems including but not limited to: steam, water, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, elevators, life safety, building envelope, equipment and Building Automation Systems. Manages a diverse team of building engineers, provides daily direction, staff training and development. Researches, recommends and oversees implementation of new technologies and integration.

Job Functions

1. Provides direct supervision of the assigned Engineers in the Facilities Management Department for the Arlington and LeSueur locations. Supports the department director/manager through development of programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of the organization's overall strategic plan and initiatives.

2. Supervises staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Assists in the development of core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Contributes to a team of cohesive Engineering personnel in the Facilities Management Department, committed to providing distributive, clinical and service quality to all customers.

3. Carries out functions with an awareness of operating expenses and key indicators within the budget for assigned team in Engineering within the Facilities Management Department. Supports department director/manager in quality improvement efforts and service delivery that contributes to the overall success and financial viability of Facilities Management.

4. Reviews and monitors applicable policies and procedures. As assigned, ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards.

5. Maintains competencies and/or knowledge in accordance with scope and responsibility of the position.

6. In conjunction with Manager/Director proactively identifies and acts upon improvement projects and opportunities through observation, data analysis, engagement with partners, review of external impact factors and best practices, as well as ongoing communication with leadership and staff.

7. Follows CQI & Lean principles, demonstrates best practices and continual improvement through system score cards in comparison to internal and external references. Demonstrates the ability to write and follow procedures, establish PMs, work orders, and time lines.

8. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* 10+ years experience in Facilities Management and/or plant engineering or associated fields

* 2-3 years supervisory or leadership experience with progressive managing responsibilities

* Must be 21-years of age to meet Ridgeview's insurability requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

* Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions

* Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

* Professional presence and effective interpersonal skills

* Demonstrated ability to supervise and coach a team

* Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels

* Ensures excellent service with high degree of urgency to internal and external customers

* Demonstrated computer aptitude to include ability to effectively utilize the Microsoft suite

License/Certifications

* Valid MN drivers license

* 1st class B Minnesota Boiler Operators License within 1-year of hire

* Universal Refrigeration License

* OSHA Certification within 1-year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Building Operations, Technology, and/or Plant Engineering in a hospital setting

* CHFM

Compensation

Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity. Pay listed does not include any shift, weekend, or other differentials.
