Description

Plan assembling; assign, instruct and check work of Assemblers of lower classification and helpers. Check and test sub-assemblies and units. Work from assembly drawings and specifications. Proceed with minimum supervision. Requires a high degree of skill and assembling technique, plus considerable experience and a knowledge of assembly

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Assembles parts with the aid of verbal instructions, print(s) or sample parts.

* Uses various types of riveting devices, hand tools, air guns and power devices to assemble parts.

* Checks parts for quality and accuracy using basic inspection devices such as micrometers, verniers, scales, squares and gages.

* Assembles prototypes with Engineering help.

* Inspects parts for various types of cosmetic specifications.

* Where required, must achieve certification in riveting.

* Must be qualified to assemble at every station and process on the assembly line.

* Must successfully complete basic blueprint reading class.
