Application Window Open date: May 28, 2026 Next review date: Saturday, Jun 27, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Sunday, Nov 28, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician - ACADEMIC POSITION The University of California, San Francisco, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is recruiting for a board-eligible or board-certified Pediatrician, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, or Family Medicine physician with expertise in Pediatric Primary Care Sports Medicine to diagnose and manage the full spectrum of sports medicine and musculoskeletal conditions affecting children. The candidate should also have expertise in sports concussion and fracture management. The candidate should have experience in team coverage and demonstrated interest in both team coverage and mass event coverage. We welcome candidates with expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound and experience in developing and expanding a satellite clinic practice. The selected candidate will be appointed to the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank of the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical, Clinical X, or In-Residence faculty series. The candidate will participate in clinical teaching and may participate in research activities at the Orthopaedic Institute and other affiliated UCSF sites. The candidate will be responsible for teaching clinically relevant topics to residents as well as medical students. The candidate would have an opportunity for leadership in the educational and clinical programs within Primary Care Sports Medicine. The candidate would have an opportunity to collaborate in clinical and/or basic research as well as publish subsequent results in peer-reviewed journals. Requirements:
Applicants must meet all the requirements by the time of hire. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $154,700. This position is governed by the UC Health Sciences Compensation Plan, APM-670 which allows for eligibility for negotiated additional compensation. As such, the total negotiated salary (including base and negotiated components) can be significantly higher and can range up to $900,000 depending on individual qualifications, clinical productivity, and other factors assessed at the time of offer.
