Job Summary The Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a project-specific QA/QC Plan to ensure full compliance with contract documents and quality standards. This role oversees quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle, manages QA/QC personnel, and collaborates with project stakeholders to support successful project execution. The QA/QC Manager is responsible for maintaining regulatory and contractual compliance, driving continuous process improvement, and ensuring all work meets established quality standards. Previous biotech or pharmaceutical construction experience is strongly preferred. Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC Plans in accordance with contract requirements and project objectives
Assign, manage, and support qualified QA/QC staff to ensure effective execution of quality processes
Maintain collaborative working relationships with project stakeholders, including owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors
Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate QA/QC team members
Ensure compliance with ethical standards, project requirements, and applicable regulations
Interpret and apply contract documents, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards
Establish and manage engineering and quality procedures, including document control, submittals, RFIs, material tracking, and change order documentation
Coordinate QA/QC activities with project safety plans and overall project execution strategies
Monitor project schedules to align QA/QC activities with construction phases and milestones
Maintain systems for tracking, documenting, and reporting compliance with contract requirements
Conduct inspections and testing activities and coordinate third-party inspections when required
Analyze inspection and testing results and prepare detailed quality reports
Identify non-compliant work, oversee corrective actions, and verify resolution prior to continuation of work
Continuously improve QA/QC processes using industry best practices and Lean methodologies
Support project closeout activities, including final inspections and quality documentation
Job Requirements
Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, installation methods, and quality control procedures
Proficiency in document control systems, submittal processes, and quality tracking systems
Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across project teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management software
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including standing, walking, climbing, crouching, and bending as required
Ability to work in active construction environments with exposure to noise, weather conditions, and construction equipment
Willingness to travel or work at project sites in Raleigh, NC; Birmingham, AL; Indianapolis, IN; Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; and Seattle, WA as needed
Education
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of relevant construction experience, including both field and engineering responsibilities
Previous experience supporting biotech or pharmaceutical construction projects strongly preferred
QA/QC certification may be required based on project specifications
