Job Summary

The Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing planning and scheduling activities across one or more projects within a designated region. This role functions as a working manager, actively contributing to scheduling efforts while supervising scheduling professionals, project staff, and consultants. The position requires expertise in Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, project controls, and risk mitigation, along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as a subject matter expert for clients and stakeholders. Candidates must have prior experience supporting biotech or pharmaceutical projects and may be based anywhere within the United States.

Locations include Raleigh, Birmingham, Indianapolis, Denver, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Job Responsibilities




  • Lead, manage, and supervise scheduling engineers, project staff, and consultants within the assigned region



  • Perform planning and scheduling activities, including progress monitoring, performance tracking, and preparation of detailed and summary schedules



  • Develop and maintain Critical Path Method (CPM) baseline schedules for construction projects



  • Communicate project execution plans and monitor performance against baseline schedules and forecasted milestones



  • Identify scheduling risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies



  • Conduct monthly progress updates and prepare comparison, recovery, and look-ahead schedules



  • Develop and maintain cost-loaded and resource-loaded project schedules



  • Participate in project schedule reviews and present schedule updates during operations and leadership meetings



  • Support business development efforts through proposal contributions and pursuit schedule development



  • Provide training and guidance on scheduling software, standards, and best practices



  • Manage budgets and resource allocation for scheduling and business development activities



  • Implement and maintain standardized scheduling procedures, lessons learned, and best practices



  • Promote effective use of CPM scheduling methodologies and ensure proper management of critical and near-critical paths



  • Conduct schedule audits and provide recommendations to improve schedule performance and effectiveness



  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure schedule integration across all project phases



  • Partner with internal stakeholders to incorporate lean construction methodologies into scheduling practices



  • Manage scheduling software access, licensing, and compliance requirements



  • Serve as the regional point of contact for scheduling tools, support, and training needs



  • Coordinate with third-party consultants to support scheduling requirements and maintain compliance with standards



  • Participate in regional scheduling leadership meetings and communicate key updates to stakeholders



  • Engage with clients to provide guidance on scheduling standards, expectations, and industry best practices



  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned




Job Requirements




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in planning, scheduling, or project controls within construction environments



  • Prior experience supporting biotech or pharmaceutical construction projects required



  • Experience managing scheduling activities for large-scale, complex construction projects valued at $500 million or greater



  • Strong background in construction project engineering, planning, and supervision



  • Advanced knowledge of construction materials, systems, and industry practices



  • Expertise in Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and earned value management principles



  • Advanced skills in schedule development, cost loading, resource planning, and performance analysis



  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including the ability to influence teams without direct authority



  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities



  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments



  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills




Education




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required




Work Experience




  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in construction scheduling or project controls



  • Experience supporting complex commissioning activities preferred
