Registered Dietician

Job Summary: Monitors patients for and provides education on food/drug interactions. Records food and drug interactions in the education section. Consults with physicians regarding appropriate diet modification.

• Screens and assesses patients in an accurate and timely manner based on levels of care; determines patients' nutritional needs and status and provides follow-up care.
• Interviews patients and/or their families to obtain history of food habits and preferences.
• Interprets pertinent laboratory, physical and social data in the medical record, as it applies to nutrition care.
• Provides nutrition education and records patient's diet and diet instructions and the patient's understanding of the diet in the education section.
• Modifies patient menus as needed.

• Required Education: Graduate from an accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.
• Preferred Education: Master's degree.

• For post-acute locations, requirements include New York State Certification, issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a "Dietitian-Nutritionist".
• For Acute locations: Registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian Primary Source Verification - Required.

• AHA BLS.

• Required Skills & Experience: Minimal one (1) year of experience.
• Preferred Skills & Experience: Two (2) years of experience.

• In-patient experience
• At least 2 years of experience required, 3 years or more years of experience is preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree required, graduate from an accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition
• Registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian
• Additional credentials such as Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)/diabetes educator OR Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)/critical illness is highly desired.
• 8:30am-4:30pm, 35 hours / week, 1 hour break
• Weekends and holidays are required. Mostly 1 or 2 weekends per month.
