Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking two full-time Student Services Analysts in Academic Advisement. This position is responsible for providing holistic, professional-level academic advising support to a caseload/cohort of students from entry to graduation within designated Fields of Interest(s) (FOI). In alignment with the Guided Pathways, Loss/Momentum, and Appreciative Advising frameworks, the Analyst uses case management principles, practices, and software to guide and lead students to persist in the completion of important student success milestones.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.

SCC is hiring two Student Services Analysts.

Essential Functions

Facilitating Educational Planning (35%)
  • Assists and guides students in developing and updating educational/graduation plans that take into account student progress and persistence goals, academic course availability, and institutional/department milestones.
  • Provides advice and guidance to all students on goal setting, decision making, degree and certificate options and requirements, transfer pathways, course selection, registration, and satisfactory progress toward certificate/degree completion using PeopleSoft, Salesforce, and other technologies.
  • Refers and connects students with academic and personal resources, including Tutoring, Counseling, Career Services/Work Based Experiences, Student Experience and Leadership, Honors, and other campus resource offices.
  • Interprets, explains, and guides students in following college and Maricopa Community College District administrative and academic policies.

Monitoring Student Progress and Communication (35%)
  • Reviews, updates, and consults with students regarding their educational/graduation plans. Maintains thorough advising notes and documentation history of student communications.
  • Monitors student academic progress using MCCCD and institutional data dashboards, early alert referrals, and other reporting systems.
  • Conducts routine, ongoing proactive outreach and follow-up to ensure student learning and progress millstones are met.
  • Processes incoming student requests and updates student records in compliance with Admissions, Registration, and Records, Financial Aid, Veteran Services, and department operational processes.

Building Relationships and FOI Community (20%)
  • Establish positive and trusting relationships with students in assigned caseload/cohort. Handles immediate or sensitive issues requiring confidentiality or quality assurance. Researches and applies best practices aligned with National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) professional standards.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with academic leaders, department chairs, and instructional faculty throughout the college and across MCCCD to facilitate comprehensive academic support. Provides academic and program updates to colleagues regarding assigned FOI(s).
  • Designs, develops, maintains, and delivers program resource information, presentations, reports, correspondence, and promotional material.
  • Coordinates FOI projects and experiences related to student learning, success, and retention with faculty to improve student engagement and persistence outcomes.

Support Department Needs (10%)
  • Serve on MCCCD, institutional, and department committees.
  • Acts as college/department liaison to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and external groups on issues related to academic advising and success.
  • Provide operational support, feedback, and improvement suggestions for department processes and procedures.
  • Participate in partnership projects with Recruitment, Career Services, and other departments. Present orientation and/or information sessions for current and prospective students.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Master's Degree in Academic Advising, Education, Counseling, Social Work, a Social Sciences discipline, or another related field.
  2. Demonstrated experience providing academic or career advising in a college or university setting.
  3. Demonstrated experience using case management platforms to support student success.
  4. Demonstrated experience working with student cohorts to improve retention and completion.
  5. Demonstrated experience collaborating directly with faculty.
  6. Effective written communication skills (as evidenced by application materials).
  7. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years.


Special Working Conditions
  • Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
  • May be required to travel to other MCCCD locations.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department, and college.
  • May be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
